Went to a dr appointment this morning, and they have a slide show running on a wall mounted tv, with a lot of excellent landscapes, wildlife, and bird shots from all round the Alaska, BC, PNW, Montana region. Turns out they are all taken by the doc, mostly with his K-5ii and K3 paired up with a Bigma and now a 600 (I think that's what he said, he was poking around in an ear at the time...). He did say he has a much bigger challenge getting the birds, but he certainly manages! And he is training his teenagers in the ways of the Pentax as well

We went to the circus last weekend, and in the row behind was an Asian family (non-English speaking), the mom had a nice red K-30 shooting away. Now, having seen it, I wish I'd been able to get the red one instead of black, but Oh Well I still love it. :D

Due to some uncertainty in the employment arena for the spousal unit after our return, I opted for a minimal outlay... Updated the K100D to the K-30 with the 18-135, and I will take along my DA 12-24 for scenic days (when it's not wet). For longer reach, my Promaster 70-300 and an ancient 2x TC from my wife's old ME Super. Not greatest on the IQ, but easiest on the wallet (even compared to a long lens rental). I've been pretty impressed with the results the K-30 can get with the old glass I have on hand...
(edit) Lithium battery for K-30, plus the AA adapter and four sets of Eneloops plus chargers for both :-) And Oly XZ-1 pocketable camera and supplies...

Taking a cruise to Alaska next week. It will be interesting to see if there are any other Pentax users out there on deck in the rain or out on the whale-watching boats in the salt... WR was one of the prime reasons for upgrading my rig from K100D to K30/18-135  Hoping for some good close-up time with our cetacean buddies!

And scuba gear... It's not a bad little underwater camera, although you do have to provide adequate lighting for it (especially in our murky soup, I mean water, around here)

I think I'd have responded with something like "At least owning a Pentax doesn't make me an ***hole, like your Nikon has done to you." And *then* I'd have "accidentally" tripped over his tripod...
