At a freeway rest area near Bellingham, WA. Tree grew out of the stump which has since been decaying away... (photo taken with a little Canon P&S, sorry :) )
Next up - something at the water's edge!

Thanks :) Life's been hectic. This thread, obviously, hasn't been (at least not the last few days). Howswabout just a picture of something relaxing?

And the "kids" holding the unusual reflecting surfaces are pretty unusual themselves (being sousa players...) :-) Mine is the one in sunglasses. This was the final few seconds of their final game before graduating. And they even managed to pull out a victory, something *very* scarce that year.
Hmmmmmmm. How about something involving a beach barbecue next?

How about a swirling vortex of pyrotechnic leftovers? This was created by the heat and flames of a simulated bombing run by WW II aircraft at our air show this past weekend... It was pretty cool to see, and lasted long enough for me to swap the 70-300 for my 18-55 and catch this shot of it...
Jim
how about a tugboat next?

Well, it's not baseball, and not cricket, but it *is* sports (this was the successful field-goal kick that let the Iowa State Cyclones beat their arch-rival Iowa Hawkeyes last fall)... K100D w/ Promaster 70-300, no PP except resized and a touch of sharpening in irfanview.

Rome (and Greece, and Egypt, and ...) are places on my "bucket list", just to see the ruins and accomplishments of our ancestors... My son has been to Rome, but not me :-( - he was on a 3 week cross-Europe trip with a group called People to People that takes kids all 'round the world on these cultural exchange sorts of travel. He had fun, but the darn kid didn't take enough pictures!
