krp - Indeed a beautiful place to visit. Hope you will visit sometime soon!
Jim - East Tennessee is indeed a rich green landscape thanks to plenty of humidity. Glad you enjoyed the 3 visits - just curious - where did you visit?
Bob - Thanks for your very kind words. Glad you enjoyed your springtime visit, and hope you will return...
Wildman - We are richly blessed with an incredible biotic diversity. This particular wilderness area was almost lost to development, saved by some very hard working local conservationists, including hikers, hunters, mt bikers, etc., with the help of the Conservation Fund.
Jimbo - Thanks so much. So glad you enjoyed these!

Rocky Fork is a 10,000 acre wilderness located in Unicoi County Tennessee. A rich and varied habitat - a great place for a day hike or longer. Here are a few views of this green land:
There are some fine views from Buzzard Rock at Rocky Fork. What makes the views especially nice is that there are no roads, cell phone towers, power lines... Just wild country!
It's been a rather dry summer, but Rocky Fork stays damp enough for lush ferns and mushrooms to thrive...
If you are ever in East Tennessee, be sure to stop by Rocky Fork and enjoy the ancient forests, the varied wildlife (including lots of Black Bears) and the abundant waterfalls. |
