IMHO the order goes: Metz 58 > Pentax 540 > Metz 50 > Pentax 360
A Metz 50 is comparable in price to a 360, not a 540. If you have $300+ you should decide between a PEntax 540 and a Metz 58, if you have low $200s to spend then buy the Metz 50 unless you shoot with manual lenses a lot in which case the 360 may make sense due to it having auto mode.
If you have a K-5 I'd think twice about a Metz 50 due to it not having auto mode and due to the K-5 reportedly having issues with pTTL.
