I haven't seen any prohibition near pools at any pool I've been to in the states :) In fact I've seen quite a few parents photographing their learning swimmers as well over the years. One of those cultural differences....that's kind of odd, I mean, aren't we supposed to be the prudish ones?? :D
Thanks on the photo :) I definitely crank the darks & the contrast on my B&Ws, I like the intensity I suppose :D

Javier & bbluesman, these are both wonderful!!
My youngest son just started swim lessons (a huge triumph for him, as sensory issues have made the noise of pools kind of like torture). I think he likes them, what do you think?
He's on the far right. Essence of swim class here :D
Posing for the camera - he never does that, always runs! A sure sign he was having a great time ;) |

To the Convention Center...
Where we found an excellent cręperie....
And then to Top Pot for coffee to top us off :) |

Excellent capture here - she's so perfectly in focus you can feel the motion against the background. I like!

Thank you, mister :) The DA70 can do no wrong, that's for sure :D
ETA: A question for you. I've been doing my people/portrait type photos in B&W for a long time (which is why I was so excited to find this thread (and your photos!)) because they seem to convey more emotion, draw your eye to the real area of focus better. Any ideas why that effect on the mind? Why should B&W portraits work so well? Does our eye isolate the human face that completely when we look at someone without a camera lens?
Interesting ponderings :)

Thank you, good sir! :D Not a shot I could possibly have planned - but the DA70 make shots like this wonderfully easy. This is definitely my favorite photograph I've ever taken...and not just because I'm his mom :)

Really great symmetry here - with the black framing them each from above, I like this one!

Had a wonderful day at Lake Washington yesterday. This pair of Canada Geese came right up to us, and with gentle honks asked if we'd feed them many loaves of bread - alas, bread is bad for them and we had to decline :D |

Oh gorgeous! Beautiful capture - her expression, the deep blacks to frame her and the water implying tears - I love it :)
