I'll tell you what, I've tried more than 60 different 50-55mm f1.4 lenses and my conclusion to date is that they as as good and it's practically impossible to an human eye to distinguish which is which just by looking at the image output.
Personally I don't see what is wrong with the Chinon 55/1.4 which I think it's a great lens like all other nifty fifties.
The major challenge when testing the vintage lenses is that one must make sure the lens optics are in good condition and well calibrated which is not always the case with those lenses.

Ah so the SMC version doesn't hit the mirror when set to infinity? I will try it on my 5D MKI then.

Very nice. I like the last one the most. That Tak 135/2.5 is very underrated lens because of its superb siblings (K135/2.5 and Tak 135/2.5 M42). However, if you know how to leverage its strengths it could be an excellent lens.

I know the guy. His name is Teo if my memory serves me well. He is sitting on Nguyen Hue street, right? I had used his services couple times to clean up some standard lenses with oil on aperture blades. I would never bring my expensive lenses to him as he has no way to protect the lens from dusts and trust me Vietnam is so dusty.

Maybe you have a bad copy K55/1.8? Did you check the elements and see if there is any haze of fungus? I personally found the K55 1.8 to be excellent overall.
I have't tried the Tak55/2 but I doubt it's better than the K55/1.8. I will definitely try the Tak to find out. Will report back soon.

At which aspect do you think the 55/2 is superior to the K55/1.8?
I have both lenses but never bothered with 55/2.

This thread is probably the worst place to debate whether old lenses are inferior to newer lenses given all the great images produced by the Takumars and shown here :)

That's the main reason I went with Canon for FF as it accepts most Takumar's without loosing infinity.

The SMC 85/1.8 is an amzing lens. So sharp and produces great colours. I have both Super Takumar 85/1.9 and SMC Takumar 85/1.8 is by far my favorite one, especially when used on a FF camera.

tim60 - it's a Vietnamese dish mostly prepared during the Lunar New Year. It's basically steamed chicken cut in small pieces. The green things you see on top are fresh lemon leaves slices.

Well I have over 50 135s and have yet to ask that question. Try this, impose yourself to spend at least 1 month shooting (1 week in my case as I have a lot), you will see that each of them have their own characters and worth the love. The good thing about the 135s is that it's really hard to find a bad one...
