Thanks, Tom! Douglas, that's a really close-in shot.

That's a colorful one, Pete. This one, which I captured with a 200mm, is pale:

This one was clinging to the house siding, a moth I've not yet identified. Not a great shot. It was at the limit of my reach and I exposed to bring out the finer details.

This one doesn't approach the exquisite beauty of so many on this page, but I found this "flock" of swallowtails interesting. Someone had thrown a large cobble into the wet mud of the edge of a stream, and the swallowtails were drawn to the disturbed places in the mud surrounding the rock. I could only guess they were able to drink water there.

Gosh, there are so many terrific photos here. Thanks to those of you who know butterflies and moths, I IDed this one as a red admiral (shot with a 200mm telephoto)...

 If only they would wear their name tags!

Julie, I couldn't agree more with you about the poor moth. I like both moths and butterflies, and am glad that you pointed me toward a possible ID for "my" critter. Googled and found that it is probably the least skipper. Here are some pix and a description.

That's not cheating, it's resourcefulness!:D

I DID wonder if mine was a butterfly or moth, but those smooth antennae convinced me it was a butterfly. So, I googled and found this site which is aimed at kids, I think, and it has a good chart about the distinctions between the two. Still haven't IDed my critter, though.

PS- Great photos, everyone. Maybe I'll learn some new IDs here.

Good idea, Tom. I don't know the ID of this pretty butterfly:
