OK, but what's the difference between mirrorless and using a DSLR in live view?

I use magnified view on the LCD panel of my K3iii to focus. I then use Astrotracer 3. What about the EOS-R makes astro easier? I'm not criticising. I just don't see an advantage.

Hope you do also! The festival I had in mind was the Aomori Nebuta festival, although there's lots of others featuring lanterns. It's in August. Most matsuris are in spring through to Autumn, but sadly most of my trips to Japan have been in Winter. :(

Nice! I'd love to see one of the lantern matsuri in Japan one time.
Well done on the tracking!

I wish more events took this approach - it helps to promote them!

Great images! Makes me think of certain matsuri (festivals) in Japan.

Nice shot! You got an impressive amount of stars for the northern hemisphere and the USA.

Wow! The 30,000 lanterns are amazing! Yes, the connections of the shrine are uncomfortable, but personally I think it should be OK for Japanese people to pay respect to their war dead - as long as it doesn't extend to worshiping their exploits in the mid-20th century.

I'd certainly like to! The lanterns remind me of a similar arrangement I saw at a shrine in Shinjuku. :)

I'd like to see some of the gardens in Spring. The only Japanese gardens I've seen in Spring were in and near Kashima in Ibaraki where I was living at the time. Mainly Shiroyama, the hill where the castle once stood which now has a cherry grove and is popular for hanami.

Shinkjuku? It reminds me of an area near Shinjuku Gyouen. I miss Japan! :(

Nice shots! Is the downward loop at the bottom of the frame a descending aircraft?

It bodes well for the K3 successor! I'm quite impressed with the K3 at night, but your photo clearly demonstrates that the KP is better at night.

Great shot! I'm amazed by the colour saturation and the lack of noise. Did you have to do much in post processing to get it this clean?
