Professionals using Pentax :: Feasible?

I shot a weeding last weekend and my k-x would not auto focus at the reception, had to manually shoot everything. However my wife’s 5D Mark II was continually able to auto focus. Did I still get some great shots, yes but did I have the best equipment for my situation, no. The k-x is a phenomenal camera, especially for the price, I can get very usable b&w pics at 3200 ISO however when it comes to focusing in low light situations it’s a bit lacking, perhaps the k-r or k-5 has improved this.
A professional using Pentax is definitely feasible but it depends on what area of photography. Pentax probably can work outstanding for fashion photography but most professionals that get paid good money for sports photography when given a choice would choose a Nikon over a Pentax, though I am sure that Pentax could get the job done but again, is it the best equipment for the job?
