Based on what I've seen, overall the 16-45 is a very good lens at a very good price.
The 17-50 however is an exceptionally outstanding fine lens that some folks even prefer its IQ over the DA*16-50! If I didn't have a Sigma 17-70, I would be all over the 17-50, but I paid dearly for my Sigma and the matching CPL. One thing the Sigma has over the Tammy is an extra 20mm at the long end and extremely close focusing, but other than that the Tammy is the better lens.

Isn't there anything sacred any more? Obviously you are very skilled with a camera, but IMO the bulk of your best work posted here was with that lens. The only reason I haven't bought the 17-50 is because I have a Sigma 17-70 along with a number of primes in that range.

Leon, you just reminded me why I'll be buying the 70-200 and NOT a Pentax DA* lens. Those images are incredible! My tax return should cover that lens along with an X-100.

That is a pretty spectacular shot. I'm not familiar with that lens... but obviously it took some talent and luck. I love everything about that image!

Hmm, I was thinking of buying the DA* 16-50 and the 50-135, but now I'm leaning towards the Tamron 17-50 and 70-200. Here in Canada at Prodigital2000 the Tammy combo is almost$650 cheaper, comes with 6 years warranty vs. Pentax 2 year warranty and no possibility of SDM issues. Looks like a no brainer to me.

Absolutely stunning! Love those colors. If I could hire anyone to teach me photography it would be you and jgredline. You guys are very good at what you do. I'd love to get into street photography, but I'm too timid to point my camera at strangers... Also living in a small community of 32K isn't anywhere near as interesting - or risky as LA.
Keep up the good work guys.

That's good to know, but I haven't really begun to explore PP. When I bought the Sigma, I wasn't aware of the Tamron option, but I'm still happy the Sigma.

I wouldn't expect you to have the same shot with another lens. If you're not a pro, you should be, you've got a good eye.
