You know looking at this thread there is plenty of evidence that the kit lens isn't half as bad as the snobs make it out to be. There are some really terrific shots here that put to shame a plethora of mediocrity posted in many of the other threads with the better lenses... this emphatically proves there's no substitute for talent.

Were you coming up to ground level fromn a staircase below in the first shot?
Also, do you ask people for their permission to take these shots or do you just smile and shoot?
