I understand all the logical reasons and I know someone will miss the sarcasm but... It doesn't really seem like there is much worth securing there!

I quite prefer my moons with a little daylight splashed on them, alas, it seems like they always come out at night. Kudos for seizing this opportunity. ---------- Post added 07-03-19 at 09:52 AM ----------
...which are undoubtedly in some stage of renal failure, waiting on labs for staging.

I had to move to Las Vegas to officially confirm it for myself, but I too consider myself an architectural traditionalist. The buildings here are just too much! I am always envious of the pictures posted from other places where there is so much history. Everything historical here has been demolished to make way for a newer, bigger, uniquely themed casino. Excellent captures you've posted here!

@mikeSF that is a Milky Way master class! How many images do you use for these compositions?
If only that’s what the blues looked like outside of Greece!?

And off goes Ed, to write his book about the philosophy of time. Sometimes I feel like time passes the way the blurred hands demonstrate, slowly feeling every minute or second of it for better or worse. Sometimes I feel like time passes with the focused hands just remembering small moments like individual frames cut from a roll of moving film not really sure what happened before or after. That is just how I see it. Other people may see it differently.

Some call them weeds, some call them desert wildflowers but each spring some of the bushes that look like all the other bushes decide to show that they are different and unique and not just a muted sage green color. |

Trying to find a higher perspective point in Las Vegas without paying for a suite with view or gettting hassled by security is more difficult than one might think... |

Excellent first shot, I feel like your breaking the rules with everything in the center of the photo but I like it.
It paid off, this is super! ---------- Post added 11-10-16 at 11:25 AM ----------

I drove about as high in elevation as I can go on a paved road around here yesterday afternoon, 8500 feet, It might have gotten to about 55 degrees. I put my kids in hoodies. I found the only 6 aspen trees in southern Nevada on the side of a ski run. I do miss the snow, not shoveling it but that brisk frosty air feels so good. Keep posting!

Great stuff, keep it coming and don't wait so long between giving us some stuff to look at. The only full moon rule for exposure I know of is if it is pressed up against a window so what is this one you speak of?

Every once in a while I get ambitious and try something like this. There are actually surprisingly few places where you can legally get a view of the strip without much obstructing it. I couldn't commit to shooting these with a longer focal length because I didn't want to miss anything. I cropped in post for the aspect ratio as these were all at 70-85mm. I used a remote release and just held the button in bulb mode which led to a variety of different exposure values between photos and the lights from the casinos are hard to control. I like the outcome, not perfect but lightning is pretty damn cool so...
I tried these with flickr but it looks like the quality is poor as well. The originals after process and crop are still 17mp jpegs but these look like iPhonery??
Here is the same shot after drag and drop uploading to smugmug |
