Recently become re-interested in Takumars. I have a Tak 55 f2 on an H1a that I've had since the mid 60s. It's been in the closet for years. This image was made with a newly acquired Super-Tak 50 1.4 on my K-5.

Thanks. That's a lot easier. Must set the lens to M setting also.

I've just started using Takumar lenses on my K-5, though I've had a Super-Takumar 55 f2 since about 1965. It was mounted on an H1a, my first real camera. I'm wondering how folks determine the best exposure. What I am doing is setting the lens to the aperture I want and then making digital previews with histogram at various speeds until I see a good image with a good histogram.
Anyone have better suggestions?
Thanks,
Tom

kcobain1992,
Thanks, I think you may be correct. The hood is too small to fit the lens. Did you find a correct size hood?

I recently bought a 28mm f3.5 Super-Takumar lens from a PF member. Later I bought a Takumar 1:3.5 28mm lens hood on eBay. It's metal, square and marked Asahi Opt. Co. Japan. It doesn't fit the lens. What am I missing? are there different size hoods for different versions of the lens.
I am amazed at the IQ of the lens. Only paid about 20 bucks for the hood so no big loss.
Thanks,
Tom
