There are some members here whose style and imagery are so unique that you can identify them by their images alone. Kudos tp FS999, KERROWDOWN and EAGLEM for sharing their artistic vision with us. I for one am thankful for their continued presence here. Happy New Year to All !

Wow, Bruce, Just Awesome!!! I'm looking at my Limited FA43mm with a bit more respect, but as another has said here, it's the photographer that makes the image. You have done it in spades. Kudos Sir!

Really great bug shot with the Tamron 90mm Macro! You nailed the focus! Looks like he's cleaning his antenna.
I've just added the Pentax FA 50mm F2.8 Macro to my collection, (also have the Pentax DFA 100mm Macro) but will have to wait a few months until the bugs are back, everything's is covered in snow this morning! ;-)

Excellent!
Reminds me of our summer cottage by the lake when I was a kid SO many years ago. Just curious, but how close were you to the corner of the porch? ;-)

Really like the IRIX 15mm. On a sunny day I can just dial up the hyperfocal for F8.0 and forget about focus!
Modelling was one of my hobbies years ago. ;-) Great images.

Ah. very good. I never cease to be amazed at how much detail can be coaxed out of the shadows with the K-1

Yes, the Irix 15mm is a great lens. The Pentax FA 20mm F/2.8 holds its own on my K-1. Not sure what you have heard. The lens does have a small amount of barrel distortion but that is trivial to remove in post if necessary. One thing is for sure though, it is a very popular lens as it is very difficult to find in the used market. ;-) I was lucky and found a mint copy in Japan.

Chris,
May I humbly suggest the Irix Blackstone 15mm F/2.4 and/or the FA 20mm F/2.8 (if you can locate one) ? These two have pride of place in my #1 bag ;)

I agree. I lock the focal distance/F-stop to 8 ft at F/8.0 on the Irix for landscape shooting and never have to touch the focus all day! ;-)
I think my FA F/2.8 20mm is feeling a bit unloved these days. ;-)

Got my IRIX Blackstone last week. Finally got out today to try it out. Today's test was to preset the focus for F/8.0 hyperfocal. I also tried a shot with the sun in frame to test flare. All shots handheld. Tested the lens for decentering and found none. Sharp in all corners. I'm very happy with this lens. :)
All images ISO 100 F/8.0 1/45, 1/250 & 1/30 respectively |

I found this one. Haven't really tested it yet except to note no apparent increase in vignetting on the K-1 and IRIX Blackstone 15mm and a significant nulling of polarized light from my led/lcd monitor. Will get a chance to try it out this weekend Polaroid 95mm Circular Polarizer |

Thank you Eric. The sharpness is all down to the lens and hyperfocal focusing. The color is helped significantly by the polarizer. The bright direct sunlight up here reflects off everything and the polarizer really helps bring up the natural color.
Cheers,
Rick
