For those interested in the history,
The 7 element Asahi Takumar 50mm f/1.4 may be a modified symmetrical lens based on the Speed-Panchro movie lenses invented in the 1920's for sharp, wide aperture use . It might have followed an early Leitz Summarit The son of this lens might be the 7 element SMC Pentax -M 50mm f/1.4.
My reference is Arthur Cox , Page 247, also Diagram S52 and the service manual for Super Takumar 1:1.4 50mm and an undated Pentax catalog showing a diagram of the -M 50mm f/1.4.
I am not expert on all this but I am presently "repurposing and rebuilding " a process camera which has an old Ilex lens also based on the Speed Panchro.

Boris, the catalog I have shows the SMC, the Superlite 2 Flash and the Spotmeter 3 (1/21 degrees) .
The catalog does not include the cameras but a Spotmatic ( maybe an F ?) is shown on the front cover
Would you be able to put a date on my catalog?
Thanks

I have an old catalog, no date
It must have been the time the SMC was being introduced because there is an SMC description of the 7 layer coating process in the front cover, and a mixture of Super Tak and SMC Tak in the catalog.
In this catalog the SMC Tak 50mm f/1.4 is shown with 7 elements.
The service manual copy here, referred to in my post #8 above has reference to dates 1963 and does not have any SMC lenses in it, only Takumar and Super takumar, and shows 2 models of the Super Tak 50mm f/1.4 with 7 elements. That may mean that the 8 element lens was replaced with the 7 elements before the SMC coating came into production.

According to the service manual there were:
Product # 358 8 elements with the 8th being behind the threaded rear frame end ( from the exploded view it is not clear how that was held in place).
Product # 378 7 elements with the 7th being in front of the rear frame end .
Product # 37801 7 elements with the 7th being in front of the rear frame end , elements interchangeable with 378 and the word "AUTO"
