There must be some variation then, because the MX here is reasonably easy to turn
with the finger when up to the eye.
It is not quite as easy as the similar Ricoh KR-5, I think because the KR-5 has a coarser knurl.
The easiest old slrs to adjust shutter speed on here are the Ricoh KR-10 and the Minolta X-700 because they have larger wheels.
The Canon A-1 has a sunken wheel, revealed by sliding down a locking shield (!) but it is Ok after a bit of practise.
The A-1 is the strangest beast in my little collection, I regard it as having been designed by a committee of politicians.

But that is not supported by the history of Volkswagen Group of America and Dr Dr. Carl Hahn from 1955 as shown on Wiki Volkswagen Group of America - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Nor bt the set up in 1957 in Australia (of which I have personal recollections)
Yikes, the valve gear used to pull out of the cylinder heads of some of those early TDK beetles assembled in Australia, and you could set the car on fire by checking the battery water!

I have recorded (not measured) the following frame sizes [mm]:
Takumar 6x7: 55 x 70
Pentax 645: 41.5 x 56
Pentax 645D: 33 x 44
I use the Takumar 6x7 lenses on these Graflex (inch ) backs (measured dimensions of film gates)
RH10: 58.0 x 67.7 (10 photos on 120)
RH8: 57.4 x 77.7 (8 photos on 120)
The only "true" 6 x 9 medium format camera I have here is a 1936 Zeiss Ikon
: 57 x 87 (8 photos on 120) need to be steady with las tijeras, after a Jose in the darkroom.
It is very confusing

Dave,
Thanks for the comments.
I have put a thread on the DIY section with a description of how the body was made and some more photos of it.

Hi, Arnold,
The register of the Pentax 6X7 is 84.95 mm ( I assume at 20 Celsius) .
The Tak 6X7 cameras are still costly and beyond my budget. And, as I read, sometimes unreliable
However, the older Tak 6x7 lenses are possibly the best/lowest cost medium format lenses available.
So I had purchased a set of Tak 6X7 lenses and adapted them to my Speed Graphic ( see my thread on this)
Well ..... I learned that to walk around with a Speed loaded with a RF Back and a Tak.... and then focus and fire it... that is not Chimping... you need to be a full grown and very fit Gorilla.
So I built the camera, it merges the Tak to the Graflex RF Back but is much lighter and simpler, and I custom built the viewfinder for my aging diopter.

My latest camera is a home built body for the Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR/6X7 1:2.8/90
The camera is all metal with a cast aluminum body and fittings machined from 6031 Alloy billet and plate, and 360 brass.
If anybody is interested in the construction i will put some photos on the DIY section.
This photo was taken with the Speed Graphic using the SUPER-TAKUMAR/6X7 1:3.5/55 at minimum focus distance. - a bit over exposed i think.
In the backgound is the MX with the SMC Pentax -M 1:2.8~4 40~80mm used as a rangefinder and light meter, and to take shots along with the P6X7. https://www.box.com/s/3vprxp6y439tj2ovgtrn |

A versatile -M kit for travel.
All period correct and all fits in the 2004 holster bag.
I could have bought it all new in 1980 but I got an ME Super + Kit and a ski-boat instead!
The catalog is from 1980.
