Close up lenses are inexpensive, but it is important to not fall into the how cheap can I get them deal frenzy mode - you do get what you pay for. The down fall of all close up lenses is that the produce a circular outer ring of distortion. Some can even encourage a slight colour shift or hue. The better makes produce better results with less noticeable negative effects. Most of the cheap junk that comes from China, and that litters Ebay, is not worth the effort. If you look at the first photo in your series you can detect the circular distortion pattern. I am not trying to take anything away from your work as they are all nice shots. I just think that it is important that people do not think that they can produce high quality macro shots with close up lenses and replace macro lenses. Every cheat has it limitation. People on the net are spouting off about stacking all the lenses to get even closer results (less than desirable results). They are a cost effective entry into the field of macro, and a light weight solution in your pack when hiking.

I agree that close up lenses are a great easy solution. I carry a few sets in my bag. They can take a 50mm (which behaves like a 75mm on a dslr) and make it into a flower capturing machine. Very inexpensive, reasonable results. Nice shots, interesting choice of subjects to show off the potential on the lenses
