Thanks for the tip on the cropping ... I might just do that ... and see what it is like enlarged.
Jack can be a bit of a show-off ... so he's never short on expressions. Normally the prblem is keping up with him ... but i was lucky in this case that he was sitting still for once (being held though).
As for DOF ... the shots of where he was having his harcut were all shot with the FA50 at f/4 at 1/60 .. using the Sigma EF530 (bounce/swivelled)

Thanks everyone ... was the first time I have mated the FA50 with an external flashgun.
I normally use the FA50 wide-open or close to it with natural light only. But I was pleased with the results with the flash.
Actually quite happy with the FA50 stopped down ... first time for me to do this ... and it's sharper than i expected.
Just goes to show i don't use the nifty fifty enough to exploite some of it's true potential.
Plus i need to brush up on my PP skills as well.

Here's a few pics I took of my son getting his first haircut ... my wife was having a hard time about it. She didn't want to get the ringlets at the back cut ... but it looks like he has retained some of them.
Surprisingly he was really good with it all ... and was amused with looking in the mirror most of the time.
Wasn't the easiest to shoot as well as there was a decent amount of light coming in from the glass sliding door behind him.
Thank goodness for bounce flash I guess.
These are just straight RAW/JPEG conversions so i can get them uploaded.
I used my FA50 this time ... I normally use my Tammy 90mm ... but it was a little too tight to try and get the shots in with that lens ... was pretty happy with the results though.
Enjoy
