There is no A-position, but the Takumars are very useful on a pentax-dslr as they support Av-priority when you set the auto/manual switch on the lens to manual, then select the aperture on the lens. You do not have to press the green button in that case.
Takumars do frequently require compensation, for reasons I do not know, and some lenses (two only I believe) can suffer from yellowing due to a mildly radio-active element. This can be cured. Mind, many Takumars do have a coating you might mistake for yellowing.

Very good deal! Mine was similar, but more at €55. The Spotmatic was not in great shape though, but never mind, I really like this version of the lens. While I've sold almost all my K-bayonet lenses now, I've kept this one and the DA 4/16-45 for general purposes.
They are too cheap I feel, though. We should've paid more.

My 8-element version has no number on the A/M switch (A/M rather than Auto/Man).
The IR mark is all-important, but on a poor photo it may be hard to see (as it was on mine when I bought it). The protruding rear element is clear too. I have a M42/K adapter on it permanently, without spring, so it effectively works as a K-lens, but with Av-mode.
Do take a lens hood for it (possibly for a slightly longer focal length) as its coating is not yet superb; it will help reduce flare. Mine came from someone else on this forum, a B&W lens hood, slightly longer than for a 50mm FF and thus great on the dslr. I do love this lens.
