Whatever you do, don't quit! You will need to log a lot more hours behind the viewfinder. Like normhead said, look for the distractions in the scene and avoid them. Find different angle to shoot the sceen. In one more year you still might not see a big improvement, but check back in 5 years and I am sure you will be amazed.
