Just a thought....I have noticed that there aren't many cats posting to this site....I suspect that a few would still be posting if..... |

I'm reposting this because this seemed to have been deleted in the wake of pussygate. Not sure why the original post warranted deletion simply because it incited Mike's overactive imagination.
Super-Takumar 50/1.4 (8 elements) at f/1.4
And yes, that is a stuffed tampon mascot. Why my best-friend thought it made an amazing Christmas gift one year is beyond me, it's not like I partake in the sacred monthly ritual. It now hangs over my socks drawer.

Don't look at me, I got two spanks as well for my witty repartee.
Yet another reason for me to get on the K5 bandwagon. Can't wait for the test shots. It always baffled me that previous models weren't able to meter properly in Av mode when the green button worked so well. It seemed like a fairly easy problem to correct.

More than likely the Nikon user was speaking about the K-mount Takumars and rightfully so. Only the dimmest of idiots would ever besmirch the good name of screwmount Takumars.

Most of the Soligors are absolute junk. There are a few nice ones though, like the 135/1.8 and the 200/2.8.
SMC coating stands for Super Multi Coating, while most early Super-Taks were probably single coated. SMC coating will be more flare resistant and produce an overall sharper image with more contrast. However, the coating upgrades were gradual, so some later Super-Taks would have SMC coating without stating it.
Not sure I agree with that. On digital, the yellow cast is negligible.
If the difference were only $50, I'd get the SMC coating for the 135/2.5.

Yes, selling poisonous baby formula is a cultural practice that dates back to the ancient Yuan Dynasty in China.
I think you're confused and misinformed.

Get a new version of PS or Lightroom 3.
8-bit TIFs are fine to be honest. You won't notice much of a difference, if any. It'll give you plenty of leeway to edit.

All this bitching and moaning about the 105mm makes me want to dust my copy off and take it out for a spin, just to see how bad it is.

Pentax Takumar 18/11 Fish-eye
After being spoiled by the rendering on my Pentax K-x, I now have to make do with a Canon Kiss X3, ugh.

They are almost identical in performance. The glass and optical formula should be identical, only the max aperture opening is slightly different in size. I think the f1.8 vs f2.0 was only just a marketing gimmick to price one slightly more than the other. Same thing with the Auto Tak 55/2.0 vs 55/2.2.

It's a very fun lens to use since it's a pancake and there is no focusing required at f11. However, the corners are pretty soft even on an APSC sensor. It's a great travel lens though and the B&W rendering is super.

Definitely the pose of the two women in the background and the light seeping through the leaves that's making this photo freaky. It might as well be straight out of Ringu.
