I've been on holiday in the UK and France for the last few weeks.
I didn't see one single Pentax in theUK or Paris until yesterday.

spied a K100 in Montemarte in the afternoon......
and then today (amazingly?) , there were 3 of us standing in the same store in Eurodisney watching an artisan handmaking glass blown ornaments. (my wife was off browsing for trinkets)

I had my K-5IIs , a young girl with her K-5 and a "serious" Pentaxian with a K-3 gripped and with an O-GPS1 wearing a Pentax branded photo vest too !! - anyone from here maybe ?? - and would they own up to being at euroDisney today.

The little LED in the "anti theft" mounting isn't on

Does that mean Target doesn't think anyone will try to steal the white DSLR?

I'm in the Philippines south on Manila area working for the past 2 weeks, haven't seen a single Pentax ...... and they're made here.

I took my Q out in the rain last Wednesday afternoon after waiting for Typhoon Rammasun to pass (pretty much) right through us.
Q is so small you can just shield it from the rain with one hand anyway.

I don't want to hear nay more complaints from you lot about lack of marketing for PENTAX.

I'm thinking of a career change, I think I could do just a good a job in the marketing department at Ricoh. I wonder if they have any openings where it might fit in.;)

Looks like it, but the Tamron has zoom restricted from 30-50mm since the reversed hood would hit her fingers and stop. ;)

At least all those dangerous bubbles wont damage the front element of the lens since it well protected by that flare inducing UV filter. :hmm:

Spotted a fellow Pentaxian with a K-5 at 5am this morning for Sunrise at park in Bondi !

Less remarkable when you know there were over 100 photographers out there, it was crazy
Sculpture by the Sea

I even saw a guy with a Rollei TLR.

I was down in Mindanao last Friday, & there was a wedding reception at the hotel i was staying at.
They had 3 photographers working together but 2 had Canon the other a Nikon. (i wonder how they'll match up the white balance properly:confused:)

They we doing some of the incidental shots without that bride or groom that usually get thrown in the album editing, you know closeup of the the shoes, jewelry, flowers in the hotel staircase, decorations etc etc
As I had to step over his setup in the stairway,, half jokingly I mentioned to one of them, "Hey you guys should be shooting Pentax being patriotic and all that"..... he took a look at the Nikon in hand and said "errrr.....I've got a K-5 at home " .:o

I wonder if those Hipsters were loading the film in backwards with the emulsion on the wrong side to get some funky "analog instagram" lomo style colours. Or maybe they ground the bayonet mount down a bit for some cool light leaks or used the special film that's gone well past its expiry date. Film that is actually still in date is just sooo... "mainstream".
You can probably tell I don't much have time for hipsters. Their "philosophy" is OK, but now they seem to be copying each other to the point where they themselves are becoming mainstream. There's a certain irony in that.

I, myself had a film mishap today. I found my Dad's 55 year old Agfa, no idea if it worked properly and tested it out with a roll today for it's first time in 45years. Since it was the first time for me too since the mid 1980's, I very carefully loaded the roll making sure it was threaded in correctly and engaged with the teeth on the spindle. I noticed things were going wrong about 1/2 way through :(. I managed to shoot about 45 frames from a 24exp film. The shaft on the winder was slipping in the take up spool I guess as when I realised some frames were only advancing about 1/3 or 1/2 as much as they should have so I think I've got some multi-exposure stitched panoramas in there.

Anyway, glad to see you had a successful day with a few laughs.

.... or the "Twilight Zone". are you sure it wasn't a dream.

Did those Hipsters actually have film in their cameras, or just carrying them around for the looks? if you followed them to a cafe and spotted them taking pictures of their dessert or lattes (whatever) with their Iphones you could catch them out. :hmm:

A 'film major' and never hard of Pentax? That sounds unlikely to me.:hmm:

Did you ever consider that maybe she was really checking YOU out ;) and not the camera?

You all have Sirui Tripods too? (noticed because i am eyeing off an M-type or N-type at the moment)

Need to put some extra miles on the company car? Hope you filled in those log books.;)
Still....., its an excuse for a weekend drive in the country.

.
.
Went shooting today with my local group.

I'm the only Pentax user. Generated a bit of interest playing with a new toy (Q-K mount adapter) with DA*300.

Michael: " Oh wow. that's cool......Hey I got a Canon EOS-M mirrorless recently. Can I get a converter to do that?"
Me: " Err ... no...... you can't"

My sightings for the year were few but some of the highlights were:

I saw an old guy slinging not one but 2 K10D's at a historic race meeting. Both with sigma lenses.

I took my K-7 to a factory inauguration in the Philippines (i did a 2 year long project there) .
I was seated at the guest table with the boss of the nearby HOYA factory. He didn't even notice.
However , I know the project manager of the factory we built , a dutch guy, owns a K-7 and several primes including a DA70 and a DA*200

A friend of mine asked me what camera to buy.
I suggested a Oly Pen or a Pana GFsomething might suit him.
He ended up buying a white K-30 and is looking around for some more lenses. ;)

After shooting for a whole week in the Outback with 25 Canikon types and 1 Sony shooter, on the plane on the way home I saw a full page ad for the K-30 in the regional airline in-flight magazine. My first ever ad sighting.

OK maybe they only make them for me then:cool:, that kind of makes me feel special.:D

Living in Sydney I go out shooting in the bright sunlight a lot and I think it does make a difference in that instance. (Not today though its rainy and blowing a gale:eek:)
I know If its overcast or indoors of course theres no point although couple of weeks ago I was out walking and was in a light rain shower and while it makes no difference for flaring from sunlight then it probably helped keep the droplets off the glass.

The only zoom i've been using lately (18-135) the reversed hood really does get in the way so based my opinion on that.
Actually most of the lenses i use have have a hood built in in the forward postion anyway. The one that suffers worst for flaring I don't even have a hood for.

Copenhagen does get a lot of sunlight hours this time of year but looking at the photo she's wearing a jacket and also a weatherproof jacket on top of that, not sunglasses so it could have been raining or overcast so i suppose thats OK then it's perfect valid lifestyle choice not to use the hood then so don't worry she's in the clear, thats a relief.

Now I dont have to fly over there and swap it around for her.

. OH NOOOOO!!!!!!!! I've just seen she's got a UV filter on Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh !!!!! ;)

Totally pointless having it on backwards

If it's sunny always put it on the correct way for better contrast / prevent flaring & protect the front element

If it's not sunny alway put it on the correct way for better contrast & protect the front element

If you're not going to use it leave at home or in the bag. (or donate it to a poor Canon user because Canon doesnt give lens hoods on many lower & mid price lenses)

Dont leave it on backwards, it gets in the way of the zoom & focus rings and worst of all its makes you look like you dont know what you're doing.

Hey I've seen 3 other Pentax's in 2 days (a record for me).

At an indoor bowling alley, I saw was a (fairly big) guy wearing a black K-r w/ kit lens as a necklace over his tightly stretched white pullover. The bowling alley had UV disco lights operating so it the white pullover looked quite snazzy, and the gut underneath (not so much). He wasn't shooting, just herding noisy children around, at a birthday party. (it was a crowed zoo in there).

Last night out at the Sydney Vivid light festival a saw a guy with a k-5 and a K-01 w/ DA40XS. First K-01 I've ever seen.
My freind with her pink K-r was also there.

At the motor racing today I saw a guy with a Pentax Neckstrap fitted to his Nikon D300 +grip and a massive 70-200. I thought that was a bit weird.
Here he is:

The guy standing on my right had a gripped 7D also with a massive 70-200. He saw me using a tiny DA70 and probably thought I was a bit weird.
Here he is:

Thanks. I've got 56 other pictures of the Snow Leopard from Sunday including a few yawning & stretching, licking paws.
The couple of times I went last year, he was hiding.

I was going to make a collage(?) of 5 pics. Nikon(yawn), Canon (Yaawwwn), Sony (yawn, stretch), P&S (licks foot, looks away bored).....a Pentax (hey check it out!).

Sounds like you need to make a smaller pink "F-5XB" sized one for shorter outings.;)

You can add 1 K-7, I was there too.

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/1452264-post155.html

I didn't see you there sorry, I would imagine you would be easy to spot with that pink bag of yours.

Last week I was away in Asia on a business trip. (I'm design/building part of a plant for a large food manufacturer, in a totally new factory).
While in a technical meeting with other engineers, I spotted a green lens ring flash past the window.
Probably the only DSLR in a 10km radius and it turns out that the Project leader has a gripped K-7 and DA*200, DA*300, DA70, DA40 and several other lenses (he doesnt own any zoom lenses). Doesnt have a DA15 though.
