......or Crispy Pata (deep fried pork knuckles)

......or Sisig (chopped bits of pig's head and entrails on a sizzling plate, with chilli & little Calamansi limes..)

Personally I like it with Kinilaw (raw fish, lemon juice, vinegar, spices) - - slightly healthier than the other options.

The telescope in that photo is very pretty yes.... but it doesn't (didn't) work! It owes me 2 euros.:hmm: - I'm sure its the same one. - on the 2nd level.

Look at how awkwardly my 7 y.o. son is "smiling"... he's seething with rage.

And me too! I spent many school holidays riding around and camping in one just like that.
It's even the mid 1960's version with the split windscreen and hinged (not sliding) side door.

Well Doug's beard is quite impressive. It's gotten way more advanced that the now popular hipster beards you might see in Bondi or in "Melbs" sipping a latte.

Again the more advanced evolution of the beard might be an Adelaide thing. There's a cool Rock/Folk band from Adelaide called The Beards

The Beards - soundcloud

They've been around quite a few years now and every single song they've released is about beards.

The latest album has titles such as:
"Damn that's a nice Beard"
"All the Bearded Ladies"
"Stroking my Beard"
"I have a Beard and it looks really good"
and "Hey you, grow a Beard"

My personal favourite is from couple of years ago. I heard it again this morning on Triple J, hilarious

You should consider having Sex with a Bearded Man

The official youtube clip is a bit racy not to mention a little bit hairy for younger audiences so here the Triple J live version.

Must be something in the water in Adelaide. Sandy's back yard is looking almost as lush as Doug's (digitalis) beard.:D

Both should really be thriving when springtime comes around again.

Or there is this similar 58mm one. I use this as a lens hood extension for the FA31.
58mm 58 Lens Adapter Tube for Panasonic DMC FZ18 FZ28 | eBay
Lens Filter Adapter Tube for Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ18 DMC FZ28 DMC FZ35 FZ38 | eBay
priced at many places on ebay from $4 to over $20. search "FZ18" +"58mm"

Again 2 pieces but both pieces are threaded 58mm and both can be screwed into the filter thread.

The shorter piece is just short of the length of the FA31 metal hood (I seem to remember, sorry I can't find this piece). A Cokin(type) frame I think could probably fit o,n as the adapter screws on the inside thread, without fouling the hood. - I haven't tried this though.

The larger part is the one I use for the hood extension and it protrudes about 6mm further than the FA31's metal hood.
It doesn't cause any appreciable vignetting with crop sensor. Not sure if it would with a Cokin filter holder frame added to it.

Hi Brian

It looks like the flickr code isn't embedding properly in your posts here

Lemmie help you out if you're stuck. (i know it took me a couple of goes to get it here)

On your the page with your photo in flickr go to the "share" icon, the little rectangle with the arrow emerging from it in the right hand corner.
and in the pop-up choose "Grab the HTML/BBCode"

choose "BBCode" not the "HTML"

choose the size you want in the drop down eg 1024x678 (1024 is the maximum size that displays nicely on the forum page)

then just highlight & copy all the text in the box that looks a bit like this with all the codes etc and square brackets

"{url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/pepitobandolero/10825139915/}{img}http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7289/10825139915_bb7532d06c_b.jpg{/img}{/url}
{url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/pepitobandolero/10825139915/}les presento a Manolo{/url} by {url=http://www.flickr.com/people/pepitobandolero/}brian daniel gomez rendon{/url}, on Flickr"

Paste it all into the forum post and up comes your picture with the fickr link - like this

Cool looking pup by the way and nice lighting in that shot.

Oh Duh! I just realised (looking at your recent flickr) that it's the Tram Museum at Loftus & old Audley station.
(I live a short bike ride through the bush from Audley station, I was there on Saturday afternoon!)

I thought your shot was old the abandoned Glebe/Rozelle Tram shed.
A couple of years ago you could get through the fences but MIRVAC bought the site for redevelopement and locked it all up.

Edit (OT): I went down to have a look at the abandoned 1888 -1915 railway tunnels down at Helensburgh on the Sunday.
Didn't get many shots, it was a bit muddy and sloppy to get within FA31 range. I'll post one later in a DA18-135 or DA zoom thread.

Hey Bruce, how did you manage to get in there, I thought it was all locked up now.:p

I like the B&W, it makes a nice change from all the overdone HDR that people seem fond of in that location.

Interesting choice of subject BTW, hope the photoshoot ended happily ;) (No, no not in THAT way !! :o)

Cool shot, the bridge looks great at night. I like the shadow and the light glow "painted" from the lighting indside ferry onto the surface of the water.

Great living in Sydney.;)

They only jacked up the $$$ on 31, 43 and 77 in think:confused:

Hmm yes .... I really should take some "family pictures" this mother's day with my DA35, I'm sure I can do it. And then i'll compare these to some "FA43's".

My mum is 70 and says all she want's for mother's day is a nice photo of us. Easier said than done.
When I point the camera at my son he does this......... and my wife does this ....

Hope CRK sort out a good copy for you soon.

I'd written out a long answer but preview and closed the window and lost it  heres the shorter version

Thanks Doug, I get what you're saying and I agree moslty. Yes it's close on FL 31 to 35 and there is only a stop difference and the IQ of both is excellent. If it wasn't so good I'd have ordered a 31 ages ago.

I'm just not using the DA35. In the first 2 years I had the 35 and 43 they were used evenly. Now in the last 18mo since Nov'11 I've used the DA35 once to document equipment in a factory in Joh'burg, that was work so it doesn't count. Then once in September on a "photo trip" to Broken Hill when i took nearly all of my kit. The DA35 was the last lens out of the bag. I took about 60 or so shots over a few hours and put it away. I haven't used it since.
a few shots posted here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/lens-clubs/32664-theory-da-35mm-ltd-great...ml#post2376659
I think its great for short distance close up, but step back a metre or 2 and i find the bokeh sort of "wavy" in the highlights and a bit distracting.

Anyway for taking pictures of family my go to is the FA43. The trouble is it's a bit long. I struggle to frame the subject without backing out through a doorway.
Maybe I need to rennovate the house instead !

Anyway I could do 2 things:
Get re-acquainted with my DA35 too see if I can really like it again and use it for "people shots"
Buy the FA31 before CRK hikes the price. When they do, theoretically it'll be worth more on resale if I ever have to sell.
If I do decide yes and the price gets jacked up 400 bucks then I'll kick myself.

On your other points I know its a bit heavier but its not a heavy as "bossa's" old 8-16, that thing must be filled with Iridium !!.
The fixed hood? Well I have not discovered ND grads yet so don't have any square filters. I do already have 58mm B&W CPL and ND's.
Having 5 x 49mm lenses and sharing only 1 x 49mm CPL and having to keep swapping it from lens to lens is also a bit annoying.

.
.
Anyway sorry for all the typing and no FA ltd pictures
Here's another one from the Sydney aquarium last week x -posted in "people and their cameras"

Yeah I know that, I drew up the "framing lines" in AutoCAD DA15 to DA300 and layed them all on top. Took shots with a zoom all all FL's to "see" what the look like. That's how I ended up with Steve's "twitch's" DA21. 15-21-31-43 works proportionally better than 15-21-35-43.
Actually 15-21-35-70 is spaced well also but I'd never leave out 43. As I've said on another thread somewhere on standard lenses 43 is my favourite lens for subjects with a heartbeat and 35 for subjects without.

It's not just how it "fits" but I really like the 31 smooth transition from sharp focus to out of focus. Some great examples in the last few pages. Something I can't do quite as well with the 43 or 35.

Yes Steve, I know. You saying that last month and then seeing the current price (for now), got me thinking.

haven't you sent back that new one though?

All these great FA31 shots are pushing me close to the edge.

I've resisted mainly because of the high price which has been insane here except direct from CRK in the last months. (I'm a little paranoid they'll open their emails on Monday morning and upload a "revision", just like in the states last week).

... that and I've got the excellent DA35macro. My only problem with it is the other lenses I have around it. "it's not you DA35, it's my other lenses"

For macro on occasion its the 100
For human subjects I prefer my 43 but find it's too long when using it indoors, I'm always backed up to a wall.
DA21 is useful, very versatile actually, but doesn't get the bokeh because it's wider & slower.
35 is great very sharp & contrast in focus and smooth bokeh at closeup distances but stepping back a few feet it's not as buttery smooth into the background like the 31.

I thinking to pickup the FA31 before the price takes a hit here (if it will) and partly fund it by letting go of my DA35.
I really like my DA35 even just for the engineering in it, but because of the reasons above its only seen the flange on the K-5 for a total of 5 shots this year. (100 macro is next least at 70, DA*300 is up to 1070)

what to do?

That's nuts Mike, ....:eek:nice shots but can't imagine having a suprise bath in the Pacific this time of year being too pleasant. Good thing you weren't on your own, it might have turned out differently.
.
.

I had 3 friends nearly get wiped out by a couple of waves crashing over a breakwater recently.
They managed to escape OK but a Canon 60D drowned. (she's since bought another one)

They've put up some good photos of flickr (public) and they're OK with linking.

small_C101_199 LR NN WB | Flickr - Photo Sharing! this one drowned Susan's 60D, way in the background.

small_C101_178 LR NN WB | Flickr - Photo Sharing! this one was bigger

The Surprise | Flickr - Photo Sharing! another angle. Dave (on the right) was very lucky not to get washed off into the boulders.

Be careful out there.

Correct, your eye is drawn to the brightest object first (green light) and is 1/3 rule for composition, but rules are meant to be broken and the symmetry of the vertical compostion is nice even though the obelisk its a tiny bit off the centre.
As for the green light itself yes it stands out to catch your eye and draw you in but i dont find it as "interesting" as other elements of the second picture which arent quite as visible.
My eye scans to "green light" then downwards to the green sign then across to the road then up the obelisk loking for interesting elements to the picture.

I filled up my memory allocation here too.
Adam would say to donate (paypal) to the site to increase your storage.
Or you could set up a flickr (or similar) like many here have. I've been meaning to do that for a few months but no time at the moment for PP or even getting out for shooting.:(
