I'll probably sell mine (50-135) btw.
Optically, it is an excellent lens.

IMO this is an excellent argument: the last were *only* $800. You should be proud.

As for SDM (not DC and not ring type), buy and use an older Canon 50/1.8 'ultrasonic' and hear it tearing your ear.
Canon has (has had?) crap AF motors.

Well at least in Brussels I can say Brewdog beers went way up a couple months ago.
IMO in prevision of Brexit.

Competitors often repackage SLRs lenses to mirrorless so why not...

Except youjust can't "just change the motors" like that.
You need to redeisgn the whole thing. While at it, well... redesign the optics too.

But then why wouldn't Sony, m43 and Fuji get a kicking ?

Yep. IMO the more affordable f/4 lineup should be next to arrive, besides primes (and DA* reworks of course).

Yep and that's what make'em hard to touch.
They could just do the modern AF stuff, remove aperture ring etc but... they'd be killed to bring to market lenses not sharp enough (duh...) and with plenty of CA.
If they replace them, they need to do better or not to it at all IMO. And there're other priorities IMO.

If they wanna splash, they'd come with DA* reworks IMO.

Sometimes there's even no way to discuss such deals. You take them immediately. Might not be available anymore 10 seconds later.

Thank you :)
I'm completely convinced any cuurent cam would blow away the K5 C-AF.
My problem though is I'd really like FF too and that's quite a notch more expensive.
But a second hand KP might be a very good alternative, for sure.

Mmm 70-200/4 and a 24-90ish/4 might me buy that bloody FF to replace my old K5.
I almost exclusively use my GR for the tiny images I still shoot but then there's a kid coming soon and I guess I'll want loads of pics.
So mmm why not? :D My K-5 will never C-AF fast enough to follow the kid.

My point was that PLM implied lightweight focussing group... straight PLM implementation into previous design was impossible. While at it, of course, lets improve it.
That wasn't clear in my post indeed.

The optimal design had to be redone to allow use of plm.
