Even more mag, for you, the DA*60-250 on the Q-S1, approx. 1000mm. The Blue jays stay as far away as they can most of the time. These guys are gathered as far away as they can get and still get seed. I usually don't shoot a this distance.

It made a huge difference being able to zoom out, find the subject, then zoom in. Focus is still an issue 50 images, 4 in good, many ruined by bad exposure, you have very little dynamic range to work with, you have to have the right ISO and EV compensation, but, it can be done. I used what I call a "scatter" technique. Focus, take 5 image, make a micro adjustment to focus, take 5 more, make another one back the other way, take 5 more. But the one shown, was correctly focussed without using that technique. I didn't do nearly as well with smaller birds. In fact i completely struck out, despite having 20 woodpecker and 20 small finch images. Still, the combo shows potential.

Today I put my Tamron 300 with the K to Q adapter on my Q-S1 giving me an FF equivalent of 1400mm.

It took me a while to figure out the adapter. There must be instructions somewhere, I just don't know where.

An image I took today at 500mm with the K-3

The same screw taken with the Q. No birds were co-operating.

It is so hard to find anything in the viewfinder, partly because you must manually AF as you pan, just to see what the camera is pointed at.

My next goal will be to actually capture a bird. :D

Cool, planned parenthood. Probably the group doing the most to try and save us from our biological urge to breed, and thus save the ecology of the planet.

Out with my Q today, on the morning dog walk, 6km through bush.

Q-S1 and 02

Starting off down the Hydro cut.

It might not look like it to urbanites but this is a cross roads of 4 paths.

Who wants a little scratch behind their ears. I do. I do.

The Q-S1 has finally fallen to a price I was willing to pay for it. While others consider jumping out, I'm jumping in. But then, I tend to buy things for what they are, not for what they might become in the future. After all 12 MP is 4000x3000. Still not obsolete by 4k monitor standards.

First day out with the Q-S1. We have a longer lens coming, this is the 02. You really can't crop much with a 12 MP sensor. But still, really nice to carry. I worked out for an hour today, 8 km and 700 calories and 80000 paces on the elliptical trainerl in an hour. Some days you just don't feel like carrying a DSLR. The Q will do.

Uncropped, the IQ is just fine.

I have the K-to Q adapter on order at Henry's. I can hardly wait to get the 50 macro or Tammy 300 on it. Both those lenses are pretty much 10s , it should do well.
