Is the the Mamiyia Double Lens reflex ILC? I think I see the latches for holding the lenses in place.

It's always excellent sharpness in the centre. The weakness is in the border, and extreme edges. If you crop that out, there is not a lens in its class that can match it. If your subject is in the centre, and the edges are out of focus, there isn't a lens in it's class that can match it. The centre covers most of the frame.
People complain about this chart, but they never have a chart of a los that covers 7x room range, that's better.
Tested on 16 MP AAPS-c
In the past I looked at quite a few charts from different brands, for y shooting preference this one tops the list. For example the Fuji 18-135
Tested on 26 MP. The Fuji 18-135
Notice that at ƒ5.6 Fuji on 26 MP is barely better than the Pentax at 16 MP, in real numbers. Yet Klaus in his wisdom rates the Fuji, and most other inferior lenses a whole point higher. Even the Canon has some serous optical weak points.
If you want solid edge to edge at 135 go for DA* type lens, like my DA *60-250, or go for the prime, no matter the brand. |

People like Klaus over at Optical limits actually rated lenses that wold be visually worse than this lens a whole point out of 5 ahead of it. Everyone who got a bad copy of the lens felt entitled to chirp.

The 18-135 has excellent sharpness at ƒ5.6 throughout its entire range. Used for images like this you can't get better. Used for images like this the soft edges are an advantage, they help smooth out the bokeh. The knee jerk "weak lens" people never understood the Pentax "Lenses for the way people take pictures, not for the test charts" philosophy. It doesn't suit everyone, but no lens does. For some reason people feel it's OK to criticize this one, despite 305 pages of beautiful images.

Reminds me of a joke.
Jesus is up on the cross.... he starts calling for Peter.
"Peter Peter"
Peter pretends he doesn't know him.
"Peter Peter"
Still Peter avoids him in fear of being associated with him by the Roman soldiers.
Finally, Jesus say 'Peter, come over here right now., this is important."
Peter meekly makes his way over trying to hide his face.
Jesus says "Peter, I can see your house from here."

Often times, if you like it, other people will like it, and other people can explain why they like it. Not everyone has to know everything. We just have to take the image.

I was in a picture taking mood yesterday, with this early decent weather, handlingg cameras is so much easier when it isn't -15ēC.

If my white balance is off, rest assured I tried a lot of things before I decided on one, because of the above, in the woods I get lots of weird lighting conditions. Better software might help... but on some, when I white balanced one section it turned another section purple and pink. If I think I have a printable image I'll correct mine, to some extent, but, I usually just do what I can with the relatively simple software I use for PP.
This is not a place where it's worth my while to do major processing on every image. Any image that will be printed gets additional care. I shoot 20,000 images year on average. Not every image can have the royal treatment. I don't mind a minute or two working on white balance.. I don't want it to become a hobby on it's own. See the threads on frame rate to see my opinion on too much computer time.

It's still all about the puppy for the most part.
Today in the woods,
K-3 and DA 18-135.
It never matters what else I try, this is the convenient lens for walks. I need the 135 end, so cancel the DA 16-85. Honest, it's just too short. I tried. I like the high frame rate, cancel the K-1.

The vet told us to limit his walks to 2km until he's 10 months... the path we named "the new road" has been renamed "the Puppy Path" because it's 2.17 Km. This just off the side. 2021-11-03-dogs-forest-walk-4 by Norm Head, on Flickr

He's starting to lengthen out a bit. We're thinking he could grow as big as 60 pounds. He's more than a third of the way there, after 15 weeks. Even though we were looking for smaller, it's quite possible he'll be our biggest since Pearl, the 100 pound American Bull Dog. ---------- Post added 11-03-21 at 05:52 PM ----------
