I'm starting to recognize your posts, many of the same animals and birds, except more variety. Our parks are still closed, I'm restricted to crown land at the moment.

It was -9º C here this morning or Approx. 18º F. That's pretty dramatic since I'd be at you place before midnight if I left now.

I'm starting to think your images are a lot sharper on average since you got this lens... what do you think?

The tourist around the monkey pool, and the Orange coat guys with the Penguins... those are my kinds of shots. I'm usually as interested in what's going on around the picture s the picture.

I've been interested, but this is the first time in a while that I've actually looked. But I'm sure I've seen some of yours and not realized what they were taken with. I'm usually a few days behind when I check the lens clubs and I just skim through the pictures and ignore the text. Kind of like reading Playboy used to be. :D

Old habits die hard. :D

Playboy did publish probably the best interviews with both Bob Dylan and Martin Luther King... I read those, but had to keep them under them mattress.

I still remember a line from the Bob Dylan... at the end of the interview, it sounds like both men were a little talked out and tired ... Dylan looked down and wondered out loud 'I wonder if there's a snake in my beer."

But I digress. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

There's a combo I've been interested in seeing results from for quite a while.... so far, so good. Thanks for posting. So with he 1.4 you'd have 630 ƒ8.

This a great image. It achieves separation through texture and colour contrast rather than by blurring the background which for me is a wonderful thing. And at 150 you've don a nice job of limiting distracting background elements. The background adds tot he picture by adding context, rather than by limiting what you can see, leaving you wondering what was there.

I love the location of these images, it is so different seeing airplanes with a background other than air. #2 actually made me feel dizzy. Thanks for posting.

The trouble with these shots is, you get a very good photographer, and the shots he gets are probably better than what you'd get. It's like the beautiful girl standing beside the Pontiac. You can buy the car, but the girl doesn't come with it. :D

People used to accuse me of doing the same with the DA 18-135.

Now I get to say it about someone else, I've been waiting a while for this. :D

I tried turning the SR on, and despite many members who say that on a monopod it must be turn off, I find that most of my results are sharpest.

That's crazy turning SR off on a monopod. I don't even turn it off on a tripod most of the time. I turn it off if the tripod is locked, I'm on a 2 second delay (it goes off automatically) and my hand can be off the camera for the full two seconds. I've had enough shots ruined when I was slow getting my hand off the camera and it was still shaking when the timer went off to go with "no SR on a tripod."

That should be, "no SR when there is no chance of camera vibration". I've also left SR on when on a locked tripod, I could see gusts of wind vibrating my tripod. The problems of SR ruining an image are much smaller than the odds an inadvertent motion blurring an image with SR off. Especially on a monopod.

Two reasons for turning SR off. On a two second delay or remote shutter release on a heavy, locked tripod, , or panning. The rest of the time, leave it on.

With a monopod you can still have the camera move with hand shake.

I look at these images and wonder why this lens isn't called a DA*. It's definitely sharper than my A-400.

Thanks to all the early adopters for providing so many great images....

I hope you all will find your way over to the 300 plus club... single lens clubs are fine, but the 300 plus lens club is an absolute party. It's by far the most "liked" thread on the forum.

And the brakes in both my cars just went, I'm looking at at least a grand. One step forward and two steps back.

It's going to take me at least a year..... and by the way.. I hate you. :D

Being retired means, living is covered, but coming up with cash for big purchases is a lot more complicated. :D

But if I can hold even until this time next year, next year's tax return should cover it. I have a plan.

This lens is looking fantastic... obviously a little skill from the shooters too.... You guys know? if i were to buy this lens and didn't get as good images as you, I might sue you for mis-representation.... just kidding. I'd probably just post that this lens, sucks and Pentax is doomed.

It's getting harder and harder not to like this lens, but I'm doing my best. :D

This is what other people claim I do to them with the 18-135. :D

I swear, you get way more detail on days when the weather isn't perfect. Harsh light is not good light.
