I'm sorry mee, but looking for negative things to say, and dragging your "Pentax does everything wrong" opinion into every product announcement is not "nice." I can't understand for the life of me why you're even allowed in these threads.

There is probably no lower level of cowardice than posting negative comments about someone who has you on ignore.

Like kicking someone when they are down. But, it does make it really clear who the bully is.

I guess it's just too hard to understand that two people can have different styles, say things that tick each other off and just agree to ignore each other.

Some folks just aren't big enough to do that.

Personally, I wish mee would ignore me. What I say so often upsets him. It can't be fun for him. I odn't understand what the issue is.

Being ignored is better than being lied about, misrepresented, misenterpreted and called names.

Maybe he's afraid I'll trash him behind his back like he just trashed Kunzite. relax dude, when you aren't around, I don't even think about you.

The things that have to be balanced are IQ, cost, weight, size.

My Sigma 8-16 only goes with me when I have an actual use for it. It's too big to just lug around all over the place, takes too much space in the camera bag, and weighs to much. This would be bigger. I suspect, it wouldn't get a lot of use, because my Sigma 8-16 doesn't get a lot of use.

The 12-24 is 439 grams
My Sigma 8-16 is 555 grams.
No specs on the 11-18 yet but it will be a lot bigger, a lot heavier and a lot more money.

I did put a 15 ltd on my camera before I bought the Sigma, I liked the size and weight, but the images simply weren't better. On blind test with my wife selecting the best images it didn't match even the 10-17 fisheye in many respects. I'd like to have it for it's size and weight, but it's a lot of money to pay for an "easy to carry always with you" lens. That being said, withe the 21 ltd.. and 40 XS the 15 would be great companion so you'd have quality glass in a very small travel package.

Looking back, I probably should have bought it instead of the 21 ltd. I have other lenses that cover 21, like my 18-135, but portable 15mm is hard to come by. If you buy the 11-18, you still want your 15 on many occasions. It still does what it does very well.

I'm looking forward to a comparison of this lens and my Sigma 8-16. With WR, and if it's sharper, although that's hard to believe that would be true with that lens. I did buy the DFA macro WR, even though I had the Sigma 70 macro, just for the WR, and the fact that this is a DA* probably puts it head and shoulder above whatever else is out there in terms of construction etc.

So disinformation is OK with you? Just leave it there for the uninformed to read? I'd say that's what feeds it, if he thinks he's getting away with it. Ya, there's a lot of people for whom every opinion is valid and the information presented is not important. There are a lot of people who value "peace" more than truth. Personally, I don't see anything emotional about it. When someone corrects me, I usually am thankful for the experience, because I learn stuff. That's the goal. To come here and learn stuff. Posting lies and half truths doesn't further that.

Has Snappertim ever posted a picture? He seems to be more of a lens repair type of guy.

But here's his track record...

From 08-14-14
So his track record is pretty clear. Listen to what he says at your own risk. His hit rate is maybe 10%. What's scary is is hit rate remains about 10% even for information he should know before he says something, because it information that's out there.

I suspect he's a vender, probably a lot of refurbished second hand stuff, with quite a few Tokina lenses to sell, trying to tell folks they are just as good as Pentax lenses. Just based on an cursory reading of his biases, requests for repair information, and lack of photos.

But that's just my opinion, no facts. Given his track record there's no reason to give him a second thought. Anything he says is about 10 times more likely to be wrong than right.

You can almost use him a source. "Snappertim says it's so, so it has very little chance of being true."

If you think I'm taking it personally you're wrong.
But maybe since you've added to the whining... what would be wrong with, after an announcement like this, just taking a day to enjoy what's been released and letting it sink in before continuing the whining?

Some of us prefer to celebrate what Pentax does, not whine about what they haven't done. With all due respect, the whining diminishes the threads.

It all basically comes down to "I'm not happy with Pentax because __________."
There is probably some reason I should care, but bottom line. It's all personal perspective, projected onto Pentax, that have nothing to do with Pentax and quite a lot to do with people's expectations of what Pentax should be.

Who wants to read that?

They just announced two lenses. And you're already whining about another one that they haven't announced. We didn't even get one day free of whining.

It's becoming clear, some folks just can't bring themselves to say even one positive thing about Pentax. It's just nag , nag, nag, bitch bitch, bitch.

There's a cure for that fortunately.

Is there some law about just not saying "Good job Pentax." that i don't know about?

You whiners can try as hard as you want to make something negative out of this, but this is a happy Pentax day, and there's not a damn thing you can do about it. You're just getting yourselves ignored,

A 50 1.4 with a ring motor, who saw that coming? I'm already envisioning in the grand kids basement taking shots of them doing gymnastics. I probably won't be able to afford it, but who cares, it's there if I decide i want it. Mean while the clowns are complaining about no 85 1.4 announcement, seriously, what's wrong with you people?

One answer to that is "my wife will kill me." That thing is expensive. And she'd want to spend as much as me to keep things "even" so it would cost me darn near $5k CAD.

To date I'm happy with the "the K-1 makes everyone of your FF lenses better" thing.

Does this mean we get a reprieve from the "Pentax never announces anything" complaints for a couple days?

I think once people get used to saying things like that it's addictive. At some point the facts don't matter anymore, it's all about their internal monologue.

I have the Sigma 8-16 equivalent 12-24 on FF for my action camera, but no 12-24 for my K-1, my landscape camera. Should I be happy? Why?

What ? You're thinking they took all those defective motors from the 16-50 and put them in the 50 1.4 to save money? What are you saying here?

MY understanding is SDM is a small electric motor that drives a gear, like screw drive with an internal motor. DC is a ring motor, PLM is a stepper motor. But I would also expect each SDM motor for each lens is specific to that lens. Surely they aren't one size fits all?

And yes, I called you Shirley.
