Street dogs in Calcutta, not specifically pets but the people of the city do tend to look after them. This pair are still quite young. Sleeping in the sun by Joe Schreiber, on Flickr

Two cute shots. I especially like Big Boy, he looks like a tuxedo cat in negative.

My son's friend asked us to watch her cat for a few months. I was not keen because I always saw her as a rather skittish and unpleasant animal. But then she was living in a party house with a revolving door of frequently drunk and high young adults, loud music and visiting dogs. She has taken to our much quieter house like a charm and she and our cat are enjoying each others company (they are actually brother and sister though we've had Earl for 3 1/2 years now). Having Georgia in the house is a little like having the ghost of Boots, our tuxedo cat who died a couple of years ago.
To date I have yet to get a really decent shot of our little house guest but I do like this one. With high ISO noise I decide to play up the grain. Georgia by jmschrei, on Flickr

Thank you for the condolences. Casper had heart disease and medication extended her life by 5 comfortable months during which she was spoiled rotten and showered with affection. When the final day came we both knew it was time and I was able to see her off peacefully, in my arms, exactly the way I had wanted. Sad yes but it was the prefect closure to a life well lived.:)

Earl Grey here has just become an "only child" after our beloved 16 year old albino cat passed away a few weeks back. He is a bit at a loss without a geriatric feline to terrorize. I will get a new cat but not yet... Earl at rest by jmschrei, on Flickr

My dear old friend Casper. She has heart disease and requires daily medication (liquid the ONLY way to go) but so far has defied the odds despite some close scares. I have been spoiling her and enjoying her company these past few months. Casper outdoors by jmschrei, on Flickr

A couple of fish eye portraits of our cats. Casper, the white cat (an albino) is my 15 year-old girl whom I almost lost to congenital heart disease at the end of February. When I first endeavoured to give her a tiny 1/4 of a pill twice a day I didn't think either of us would survive but liquid medicine has saved the day and she is doing great. Earl Grey, thrilled that I am allowing him to stretch out on the counter but only because this is not a fast lens and I needed the light! Fishy tabby by jmschrei, on Flickr

I cannot keep up with this thread, posts seem to multiply like, well, rabbits. I don't tend to manage too many decent shots of my Casper, a 15 year-old albino cat who has been with us since she was a newborn. This is my Single In February shot for the day. Portrait of my lady by jmschrei, on Flickr

Nice to see more cats here lately. Just to add to the population, my Single in February shot for today, a rather formal looking portrait of Earl Grey. Earl Grey - classic portrait by jmschrei, on Flickr

Earl Grey generally goes out on a harness and leash but with fresh snow and -15C I didn't think he'd go far. Something has caught his attention but you will notice he can not even bear to have all four feet in the snow. This is as far as he got, a few feet from the door! Two seasonal shots of my Casper. She is albino and difficult to photograph well. At 15 the poor dear has been diagnosed with a heart murmur and a chicken allergy (just try finding appetizing cat food without chicken of some sort in it!) but she is a real sweetheart. It has been a long time since I have managed a decent shot of one of our cats. This is Earl Grey under the Christmas tree. Yesterday I found him sitting on a branch half way up. Doesn't seem to phase him that it is an artificial tree not meant to hold his weight! Christmas camouflage by jmschrei, on Flickr

The duck shots have been so much fun but I would be very concerned about setting her free. She has become so accustomed to humans she would be at risk of being hurt. A wildlife refuge might be better.
