Screen has arrived. First impressions without real use in the forest:
- bigger than expected, especially with battery
- "cheap" feeling, plastic quality mostly, but that was expected because of the cheap price
- Picture quality ok after contrast, brigthness and saturation was set much lower level than factory settings were
Because of the size of this combination, it would have been a good idea to check the 5" version first....
I bought an 70 cm HDMi cable and wrapped it together with an remote control. In the picture is the creen and the remote control and the combined cable.
Let see how this handles in real work..... :)

Since I do not shoot movies but stills, this heating is not an big issue. I will use this "live view external set up" only short periods, max five to ten minutes or so.
According my tests, camera power consumption was lower when using external view. My K-5 drains its batteries quite quicly when using live view and shooting. This didnt happen when I tested this set up using my desktop screen. Battery gauge showed full battery all the test period. With internal screen, it normally drops very quickly.

Hello all
I am not sure if we are aware that we can use external LCD screen for shooting with K-5.
Manual doesn't discuss anything about this, the only closely related chapter speaks only about connecting K-5 to AV-system.
But it is possible to connect an HDMI screen to K-5 and see the very same information you can see from back LCD screen.
I tested this with HDMI cable having mini-HDMI coupling for camera and normal HDMI coupling for monitor, and by pressing the LV button all the back LCD information appeared to the big LCD screen.
After verifying this functionality I ordered a mini 7" LCd screen from
LILLIPUT 619AH Small 7'' HD Monitor, LILLIPUT 619AH On-Camera HD Monitor : COOLLCD.com
Courier company official called me yesterday that this LCD will arrive within few days. Lets see if this gadget helps me in the problems of taking very low level pictures.
