Total rubbish - just trying out the M*300 (through my window...) Full size on link if you are wondering about IQ.

All NEX-5N, M*300/4, probably at f/4.5 or 5.6, ISO 400:

Hard to get a shot in focus, but good results when you do - especially for a lens about 30 years old.

Hmm me too, especially with SR - but it definitely looks like camera shake?

Might be worth trying ISO 1600 to get a shutter speed over 1/500th or so next time just to see if it rules shake out.

Thought so - shutter speed is too slow for handheld I'd suggest.

Either bump the ISO, use a wider aperture, or get a monopod/tripod.

Not sure - it was a very quick scan on an ancient scanner of a piece of 28-year-old Agrachrome CT18 film! Credit to my Dad - not a bad effort with a soft mirror lens and slow film.

Trying out my old 600mm mirror. It's OK with some PP if, and I mean IF, you nail the focus. LV, tripod and lots of lights a necessity!

I feel like I'm constantly defending this lens - I didn't find this true at all on my copy. Very sharp across the frame when stopped down in the slightest, and no more PF than normal.

See the full size shots in my FA24 gallery here: SMC Pentax-FA* 24mm f/2 - a set on Flickr
