Me too, seems like kind of a passive-aggressive (or maybe not even passive) way to start your marriage, but whatever floats their boat.

You're right, Jefe IS a badass. Makes me feel like kind of a candyass for being proud of a measly 16 mile ride on well-cared for trails.

It's a beautiful shot, but handheld? Wow! Definitely beyond my abilities.

Excellent job! First one in particular is outstanding. Really surprised to see that these were with the 55. Definitely not a lens that comes to mind for sports. As a former high school wrestler, this really took me back to the tournaments we used to travel to.

Boy, I do. It's a little better now that I've got a K5IIs, but my frustration with missing action shots with it are what led me to seek out the Sigma. Eventually I decided that I'm no better off getting the shots with the Sigma if I'm not as pleased with the results.

So good that I'm willing to put up with the slow AF. So good that if the SDM ever does go out, I'll just get it fixed and chalk it up to the cost of having such a fine zoom. So good that I recently sold a Sigma 50-150, which has neither of these issues, but also doesn't have the "certain something" in the photos it produces. The Sigma is absolutely better for journalistic type shooting, but not for producing beautiful images.

Is it just me, or does the focusing screen in the K-5II (both versions, I assume) seem better than the one in previous bodies, including the K-5? I know it should be the same one, but it sure seems better. My eyes have begun to deteriorate a bit on me the last few years, at least enough that I need reading glasses now, but I was able to MF this sucker using just the VF and the DA*55. I have an "S" screen from focusingscreens.com in my K-5 and love it so much I ordered one for my IIs before I even received the camera. But I don't think I would have been able to make this shot with the standard screen in my K-5. I know the "S" screen will be better and I still intend to install it as soon as I receive it, but I was just wondering if anyone else had made this same observation.
DA*55 at f/2.8. Heavily cropped. Subject is kind of grotesque, but I ended up really liking the rendering.

That's a nice shot, Todd, but I'm afraid it's in the wrong thread. This is the DA* thread. The 35 isn't a * lens.

In this instance, I think the bokeh has become the subject. I still don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I find it artistic.

Some might call that bokeh "busy", but I rather like it. It's just so startling different. Almost looks like it was manufactured in post.:)

Huh. Thanks for that. I was sure the blooms were lasting longer than a day, but after reading about them, I guess it is possible that the blooms had, in fact, been replaced by another one on the same stalk. Also explains why my mom doesn't remember planting them if they grow wild. We just thought it was her old age that kept her from remembering.:o
