A nice image Walt, but your EXIF says you took it in 2063; so time travel really is possible?

In Oz they would be all over the road!

Thanks Tom.
Just look at GeoDude's offering; not a drop of water anywhere.
What sort of a road image is that?

It was probably the approaches that were flooded. (But it is still a lot of water!!!!)
(And the Murrumbidgee at Hay is just as overflowing, and talk to anyone from Forbes about the Lachlan.)

I think it was Banjo Patterson (else H Lawson) who wrote a poem "Hay, Hell & Booligal" not very encouraging for new settlers!!!
The stock route between Booligal and Hay was known as Hell's Way or some-such thing with the drovers years ago - virtually treeless and almost waterless.
Hay to Balranald is obviously in a different direction, but I have no doubt that a lot of early settlers (pre A/C and motor cars and refridg.) thought a name including hell was appropriate.

I haven't been to Toc for a while; does the railway and road still share the same bridge?

Hi Ron.
Yes recent.
We had a few days at a family reunion at Hay and Gunbar. For a fortnight the cousins (well, the one who has a quarter of his land under water at present) were concerned that we wouldn't make it to Gunbar and all activity would have to be confined to Hay. As it was we still could not get to a couple of the family properties.
FYI, the Mirrool Creek rises near Temora and joins the Lachlan somewhere near the confluence with the Murrumbidgee.
We would not normally return home via Cobram, but the bridge at Tocumwal was closed.
It has been a pretty wet winter & spring.

The road that passes a cousin's sheep station (US = ranch?) near Hay NSW. There's 16 kilometres of this from the Highway to the station; not always this good looking - virtually unpassable in spots for a month or so. K5_15370 Yurdyilla Road by Rod Grant, on Flickr

Can't see the road can you.:):)
Mirrool Creek at a little (tiny!) place called Gunbar on the Mid Western Highway in NSW.
7000+ gigalitres per day flowing down the creek: capacity of the space under the bridge? 4000 gigalitres.
Guess where the other 3000+ goes. And at a fair rate of knots! K5_15362 Mandy & Anne driving through Mirrool Crk in flood by Rod Grant, on Flickr

Yeah.
Sometimes you just can't get the shot you want because of some blasted tree, can you?
Actually, when I took these I also took a shot to either side of the road, where the scene was exactly the same except for the lack of asphalt.
I did have to move a little to one side for the last shot because there was a motorcar in the way!!
