The new 24MP in the D3200 scores a DXO Low-light ISO score of 1131.
The older 24MP in the NEX-7 scores a DXO Low-Light ISO score of 1016.
The K-5 16MP scores a 1162.

The D3200 is Nikon's entry level camera with less than optimal image processing. I'm pretty sure Pentax can get a lot more out of that sensor.

The NEX-7 has a 24MP sensor with a different pixel pitch than the D3200. 3.9 (NEX-7) vs. 3.82 (D3200).

For large print work the 24MP is the better sensor.

Really. They had the Pentax K-5 as the best for the past 2 years... were they wrong?

Which Sony 24MP is he talking about? Sony has at least 2 different 24MP APS-C sensor currently in production.

The latest 24MP pretty much matches the 16MP in in the K-5, but with much better detail.

Yes. The new Fuji E-X1 with the 14mm, 35mm, & 56mm would cover an awful lot of shooting situations with a very compact and portable package. I want to see some real tests and see if Fuji can continue to improve performance through firmware updates.

I would have sworn that it was a Sony sensor, but Fuji is pretty adamant that they designed the sensor from the ground up with the image processor.

Looking at DPR test results the Fuji 16MP in the XP-1 is the best performing APS-C sensor.

According to Fuji the AA filter (which eliminates color morie) also makes it more difficult for the image processor to tell the difference between color noise and color detail. Removing the AA filter produces images with less chroma-noise and more detail.

The K-5II Super might end up the best sensor of the bunch. We will have to wait and see.

I'm not a fan of the current EVF technology, and it has been a long time since I looked through the K-x VF, but I really did not like it. Honestly the K-5 VF is really smaller and darker than I like. The EVF on the OM-D is better only because of the flexibility and the ability to control brightness.

I would take the EVF of the OM-D over the penta-mirror OVF of the K-x.

The AF of the OM-D pretty much blows away the K-x in terms of speed and accuracy.

If sensor performance was the sole factor in determining a cameras value, then the D800 would sell for more than the D4, and the K-5 would sell for more than the 1DIV.

Have you ever read a review of any of the premium M4/3 or 4/3 SHG glass?

12mm f/2 - EXCELLENT
45mm F/1.8 EXCELLENT
75mm F/1.8 EXCELLENT
25mm F/1.4 (Panasonic) EXCELLENT
60mm Macro EXCELLENT

150mm F/2 SHG EXCELLENT
300mm F/2.8 SHG EXCELLENT (600mm equiv. for a lot less money) Why is that "less useful"?
35-100 F/2 SHG EXCELLENT
50mm Macro EXCELLENT - but slow to focus.

The lens line up is actually getting to be very strong. Olympus has always made top quality glass. If Olympus had put out top quality primes for the 4/3 system like they are now for M4/3 I would still be using 4/3 even with the sensor.

People put WAY too much into sensor performance (I do it as well). Look at the D4. The sensor is not as good as the D800 but it sells for 2x the price. Sensor is one aspect of the camera.

It does, and Canon is falling behind on sensor development. But has that hurt Canon sales in the consumer market? IF OM-D can exceed Canon APS-C then they are doing more than enough to be competitive in their target market.

I'm sure they can buy Sony out if/when they want to, and Sony having a stake in the company might be a good thing. Olympus has always had problems with sensors. Sony makes the best sensors and now has a vested interest in Olympus. This will also put the screws to Panasonic to build more competitive sensors. Although Panasonic wont say who makes the sensor in the GH-3, which is odd. Panasonic might be buying Sony sensors as well.

The OM-D out performs the Canon 7D which is still Canons flagship APS-C. It performs as well as any Canon APS-C camera on the market. The real world IQ is more than adequate for the vast majority of the population and the new Olympus primes (12mm, 45mm, 60mm, 75mm) are stellar lenses.

It is directly comparable since they use the same 16MP sensor with the same pixel density.

You realize that the resolution numbers posted by all of the review websites use MTF50 LPMM charts which measure resolution in relation to sensor height? Some simple math and you can roughly convert the numbers for different sensor sizes. Pixel density is a different issue, but the 12MP 4/3, 15MP Canon APS-C and 16MP K-5 sensors all have very similar densities, so you can take resolution tests from one and calculate performance for the other with decent accuracy with simple math.

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35 mm f/1.4 R - lens review - Lenstip.com

Lenstip tested the 35mm F/1.4 on the XP-1 and center resolution blows away the K-5 w/31mm Ltd. The 31mm is a pretty sharp lens.

It performs as almost as well as the Canon 5D on the graphs. Not bad at all.

Since Sony is making the 4/3 sensor for the EM-5 that means they are making wafers that would give you almost a 32MP APS-C or a little less than 64MP FF sensor. It is also odd that Panasonic is giving the "no comment" when asked who makes the GH-3 sensor. You would think they would put their stamp on it if they made it.

Definitely wonder what is keeping DxO from finishing their Fuji XP-1 test. They have had the camera for months.
