Sad for Canon. However, my extensive experience with Pentax DSLRs indicates that lenses designed for film use work just fine on digital. I do have the DFA 24-70 but most of my other lenses are Pentax-F, designed for film but doing just wonderful on digital, thank you. :)

Thank you, that is what I thought but wanted to be sure. Do you find this useful on a regular basis?
Very nice image by the way, good job on smoothing the water.

Hope is good. :) I suspect there will be more support from new lens makers rather than the 'old guard'. Samyang and Venus Optics for example.

Theoretically. But not always. For example I assume everything at Amazon Warehouse is a returned item. Maybe checked to see if all parts/manuals/packaging is there and then resold?
I worked in retail for 30 years. When a customer returned something we asked if it was defective or if they just wanted something else. If they said defective it went back to the distributor. If they said it was fine they had just changed their mind we checked it over carefully and if all parts and paperwork were there and it seemed to work it went back on the shelf. ---------- Post added 05-26-16 at 05:46 PM ---------- And what does the distributor do with them? Same thing? Check them over and if parts & manual are there send them back out to someone else?

That is a little unsettling. So then all these 'bad' lenses just get returned and resold again and again until some one who does not check finally ends up with it?

Not being a lens expert it really confuses me how all these decentered lens get out the door. if it is so easy to detect in teh field, a simple test on a tripod surely the same thing would be easy to test for in the factory? Easier since they would presumablly have some sort of test bench to put it on. So 30 seconds to put the lens on a machine and test it?
Seems like I am missing something.

I think that is FA not F.
I imagine the best selection will be the new 15-30 but as noted that is going to be expensive. After that we have the F 17-28 fisheye, the FA 20-35 f/4, the FA 20mm, the FA*24, and some assorted older glass such as the A 20mm. There are also Takumars in 20mm and 24mm but I'm not sure how well those will perform. Yet.:)
