Have I brought into a dead Eco System

I know you enjoy automotive analogies... so allow me to pose one here..

Updating the FA limited into D-FA limited with new coatings, WR, and a motor would be like updating a 69 Mustang through a modern suspension, brakes, and wider, larger tires.

A lot has happened in ~50 years... the updated tires alone will make the car handle better than it ever could in 1969.

Some may feel nostalgic and want period-correct everything on the car.. yet others want the look and style that comes with a 69 Mustang but with the handling and performance of today.

That is what updating the FA Limited would do.. along those lines.

When I post something, I generally do SOME research on it..

With that in mind.. I did actually look at the reviews for the MC-11 before mentioning it.. It largely gets glowing reviews. Most of the negative reviews are months to a year old (outdated firmware) or are unverified buyers.

For example the newest 10 review titles (from verified buyers):

Works great even with Canon lenses (4 stars)
Works Perfectly with my 10 Canon lenses (5 stars)
Highly recommended when using Art lenses (5 stars)
Works pretty well (4 stars)
Better than Metabones (5 stars)
Fast and accurate autofocus (5 stars)
I think I'm in love. (5 stars)
Thanks Sigma! (5 stars)
Works flawlessly (5 stars)
Needs firmware update first (4 stars)

So I'm not sure what you saw.. but the reviews I'm seeing, from actual owners that cared to review, are largely positive.

Agreed... getting gifted 4000 USD worth of lenses would help the attitude for sure.... especially if they never need a trip to Precision Camera repair.

The caveat to this comment is Sigma does support Sony... albeit through an adapter (MC-11) that mounts Canon EF lenses. That's far better than what Sigma offer us (fully well knowing an MC11 wouldn't work with our DSLRs)

Lens support does stink for K mount full frame right now. Well, if one is looking at what is in stores for sale brand new.... especially if they are looking for autofocus lenses.

B&H, as example, has 56 Full frame K mount lenses for sale -- 11 zooms, 45 primes. Of the meager 11 zooms, only 1 (ONE!) is wide angle (Pentax 15-30 f2.8). Only 3 standard zooms (Pentax 28-105, 24-70, and an aging Tamron 28-75).

Of the 45 primes available, only 11 support autofocus. Just a quarter of the total prime lens offering in K mount. And most of those are aging Pentax designs (screwdrive, SMC, etc).

So, yes, I'd say there is a significant lack of modern designs that also support autofocus in K mount.

The real question, out of this, is and always has been: Of what is offered, does it meet your needs?

That is a personal question that you cannot answer for me and I cannot answer for you. (not directed at you, specifically, rawr but the community as a whole)
