Oh, and it is an odd looking bee. I haven't seen one before. Maybe it's a SA only native?

That explains the sharpness and close focus, Steve ;)
I only spotted the moire, because I wanted to take a look at all those pixels :D

Was at the Avon Descent two weekends ago, helping out the father in law, who regularly races in it.
All taken with the D700 + 70-200 VR2 (some with the TC-20E III). Some are quite heavy crops.
Walking wounded
Long day at the office..

Great shot of the bee, Steve.
I had a look at the full res shot, and I can see some moire in the eyes! Any other resolution and you wouldn't even notice - that 35 is super sharp!

Really nice shot Simon.
I'll have to post something here soon.. haven't for a while now! - life is getting away with me atm, trying to sort out finance for a new home build.

Glad to see everything is back to normal Steve.
Nice shots through the trees. Are they cherry blossoms? I'd love to see one in real life.. unfortunately Perth is too hot for them!

Haha, thanks Steve.
I managed to pick one up second hand from the OCAU forums, hence the low cost.
Otherwise I would probably have gone for the 1.7 which I've used before and liked the output (on D700).

Just came back from Mt Hotham (Melbourne) on my first skiing trip.
I borrowed a mates D800 for the week - it's going to take a while to edit the files! My laptop is really struggling!
He's a quick snap I took with my 70-200 VR2 + 2x teleconverter
1.2x
100%
I'm quite satisfied with the quality of the output - it's no where near as sharp as the 70-200 vr2 on it's own, but for an extra $380, I think it's good value.

Fingers crossed some shooting opportunities arise!

Gee, that's really bad Steve. I thought Sigma had improved their QC recently - especially given its a new lens model.
If I was to get a macro, it would be the 180... if only it wasn't so much!

Simon, I don't know how you do it, but your pictures always have a wonderful glow around the subjects - especially your boys.
I always think to myself "does this guy have an elaborate lighting setup wherever he goes?!" ... Something tells me you are just very good at positioning yourself to capture the perfect light.
Great work!
