The key is to get yourself appointed Finance Minister. But that might require a coup, and you thought camera lenses were expensive. Plus, you may very well land in the gulag for crimes against the government. And no way will you get to keep your camera equipment.

For me, I do notice that I need to stop down a couple of stops to be tack sharp with just about any lens. I really appreciate a more narrow depth of field sometimes, so I like that my 50mm 1.7 gives me the ability to shoot tack sharp at 2.2, whereas my zoom 2.8 wants me to stop down to 3.5 for tack sharpness.
