Looking to replace my 18-55 with somthing much better.

The kit lens' Achilles heel is the uneven quality; mine is good enough that after spending time and cash on several other options* I stuck with it. I did not try the Tamron 17-50 though, and it's obviously well spoken of here and elsewhere. May it serve you well!

* "other options" = Sigmas 18-200DC, 17-70 + 18-50s f/2.8-4.5, DA18-135
