I agree, the last photo is the winner in my eyes. I like how the trees on the right provide a little balance to the photo.
Might do well from a black/white conversion. Just my opinion. Well done.

Awesome photo! I like the framing with the opening in the bottom corner, and the silhouette guy really adds to the image. Im sure your newspaper was happy with the photos.

Been too long since the last time I enjoyed my 15mm....still one of my favorite lens to shoot with. These are from a trip up to Whidbey Island last weekend. Not a whole lot of fall colors around the NW, but there were some to be photographed. The fog/mist added some interest but also some challenges. I found a few spider webs/mushrooms that benefited from the wet/dewy conditions.

Maintenance work shut down the St. Johns Bridge here in Portland for a couple weeks...no traffic either direction from 9pm to 5am. This was of course a perfect opportunity to stand in the middle of what is usually a pretty busy road to capture the bridge from a different perspective. Shot the 15mm on a Pentax K5. 15 sec. @ f/11 ISO 100

I like these as well, but the B/W scene really did the trick for me with this lighting/landscape.

I like the over the top color for this series of photos you took.....matched with the 15mm's perspective, it gives it a surreal feel. I like the foreground shadows as well.

Those photos remind me of something out of Fear & Loathing ;) Those are some intense colors and crazy orbs. The sphere photo is awesome. Great use of the sun behind them and I like how you kept the railing in frame to give some perspective. The "Wacky Shack" photo one image? Great dynamic range across the scene. Looks like a fun time!

Ha, I've had like 10 people say that :) I looked up the history on the Windows image that was used, it was named "Bliss" and was shot with a handheld medium format camera in the Napa Valley area. Now that same image is home to rows of vines. It doesn't say anywhere how much the photographer cost paid for the image.....but Im sure dude got paid ;)

Yep, same area....this one was just west of Pullman WA. I hope to get out there again sooner than later....harvest season and winter would produce completely different images.

Yeah, I come from the flat but lake filled lands of MN. Most popular place to ski/snowboard is Buck Hill....keyword "hill" ;) I love the diverse landscape and dramatic views of the NW, they never get old.
Here is another one from my trip out to Eastern WA with the 15mm. The clouds didn't play along the whole trip, but for this photo I think they added a lot to the image.....not only in the sky, but also the varying light/shadows cast on the green hills.

I do love the Pac NW....but there are some of those rainy winter days I would trade for aqua blue waters and beach chairs ;)

Thanks guys! Yeah, the photo turned out pretty well....even though it looks better full res on my desktop ;) We waited about 2 hours for the sun to set....but I kept some of the glow on the top of the canyon for interest. To see it in person is really impressive, it is a massive canyon with sheer cliff drop offs. I had to shoot down into the canyon....even with the 15mm I had to get right on the edge. Here is a photo my girlfriend took.....guess she wanted a last photo in case I fell in ;)

Thanks! I would be interested to see you photos with that mount. So does it move along with the stars so there is no movement in the photo? If so, this would allow for lower ISO's / longer shutter speeds while still getting a static image of the star/galaxy?
