ya like i said the only problem is internal dust that starts barely showing up at f4 and at f8 its obvious. im going to hold onto it and take it apart one day to get the dust out.

today was maybe my first bad experience buying a lens, but maybe not. i meet a guy this morning to buy a SMC Tak 50/1.4 for $60 that he said was in very good condition. in one of the emails i sent him over the week i asked does it have any scratches, internal dust, diaphragm problems etc. all he said was you have every right to inspect the lens. so i figured whatever maybe he forgot i asked. so today i meet him, he gives me the lens to look at, and theres smudges and dust all over the front and back element, what looked like it could have been faint scratches from someone cleaning it incorrectly, and the internals are coated with a fine layer of dust (it was bright daylight, i could see it perfectly) so i mentioned this stuff and he says none of that will affect the image quality blah blah blah. so i tried to let him down nice and say ill pass, but he was clearly unhappy (guy drove 30 minutes there and back). then he says he will sell it for $50, so then i offered him $40, he says $50 and its yours, i say no, then he takes $40 for it and storms off. i was kind of pissed because i figured why did i even buy it for $40 its probably junk. after getting home from work i cleaned it and the front and back elements were fine just really dirty. i tested it and there is a spec of dust that starts to show up very faintly at f4 and is obvious at f8. so i guess for $40 i got an awesome specialty lens unless i ever take it apart to clean it (never done that to a lens). so am i an idiot for buying this? sorry for the long story.

these are all shot between f1.4 and f2

more pictures with the S-M-C 35/3.5 no PP. im really loving the colors, contrast, sharpness and bokeh with this lens, but i must say its a challenge to focus at times.

last week i purchased my first tak (or manual focus lens for that matter), a SMC tak 28/3.5 off ebay. i received it two days ago and, with high expectations(due to the great things ive heard about SMC taks), took it out for a test run today. all i have to say is... the SMC 35/3.5 is on its way, i think you get the point. enjoy.
