Great composition... That's hard to do with flowers, but the eye is drawn through the picture well here.

Indeed... I've always thought the 50mm was a nice length on APSC, but haven't been as impressed with the lenses there (though i haven't tried the DA55*). The FA77 should sparkle as the "new old" fifty.
For 135, you should really consider the samyang 135/2. It shares the top shelf now with my Zeiss 35/2 and FA77.

What would be better? I'm terrible at posing, but this looks good to me. If she had her hand lightly touch her hair further down would that be more complementary instead of distracting?
I'm not trying to be rude, just genuinely curious, I need to understand posing better. :)

Wow, I don't usually see such sharp wide open images from the 43. Thanks!

Excellent shot! Do you recall what aperture this was taken with? I see it was on an A7 body, so I'm guessing slightly stopped down?

Color, the warmth improves the mood and adds contrast/depth. Otherwise the cups and bokeh circles tend to meld.

Nice mood Rondec! I like the 2nd and 3rd, reminds me a bit of the color and styling of the Skyfall scenes (from the Skyfall movie).
LeRolls, dude, you have a vision with still life, and your FA31 is doing a great job (from my perspective) expressing it. All 3 of your shots on this page are rock solid and good use of color. Are you planning on selling prints?

Photography is an art of exclusion - remove the components that don't communicate your vision. If color does not better present your vision, exclude it.
Color provides a different contrast for your viewer to explore. In this case, the contrast is the brown of the table to the silver of the spoon and forks. Do you want your viewers to notice (or be distracted) by this component? On the other hand, without color, the existance of the table is ignored (while leaving behind good background texture), and the focus is on the contrast of the spoon shape and form to that of the forks.
The other part to consider is the pulling of the eye. On first glance, my eye is pulled toward the center of the spoon in the B&W image, and the brown textures under the spoon in the color image.
Only you know your vision, but from the vision I imagined, I think B&W works better.
Edit: BTW, your still life images are getting better and better! :)

Fun picture! :)
The color forces the connection of the three background flowers and the egg, and establishes contrast between the forks and the background. I'd go color on this one. I'd also recommend a little bit of clockwise rotation to make it level and some cropping on the top (and maybe bottom), the color has eye pull on the top and bottom (not a problem for the B&W version). Just my 2c. :)

Tried my 77 for the first time today. I got some fantastic family portraits, what a great lens! It's perfect sharpness at f/1.8 for portraits, the manual focus ring is well-damped, and the bokeh...oh man the bokeh.
At the end of the day I took this shot from my front yard.
A good day indeed! I think this 77 will be fighting for favorite lens place with my Zeiss 35/2. :)

Nicely done dcBear! That 31 looks like a keeper!
I just received my 77 this week, looking forward to trying it out this weekend. The first impression I got from just trying out the handling was impressive. Seems a perfect lens to me - metal, good manual focus ring, smallish, and fast. Not to mention the sharpness and bokeh I'm expecting to see tomorrow when I take it outside.
I have the Rokinon 85/1.4 as well, so I may do a little comparison, but too me the Rokinon is just too big to make it in my bag in the future. :)

Thanks dune, I appreciate the comments. I need to just try one at some point, I keep seeing a 3D look to the 77 that I haven't noticed in the 58. I don't think that it's just the hype talking, but it may be...I think the only difference optically is the floating element in the 77 (and of course the individual element characteristics). That said, the 58 performs extremely well stopped down a bit, so I can see how you'd like it for detail capture.

Nice pictures dunerunner, I like the post treatment and 3D look.
I remember your posts from the Voigtlander thread when you got the 58/1.4. How do you like the 77 in comparison? I've often considered getting both, but haven't decided yet if they're too similar. Thoughts?

Nice one! Your 77 is stirring up a lot of LBA. ;)
BTW, how's that Ruthless Rye? I've been meaning to try it.
