No. One press of the AF button is all that is required. It then holds that focus point until you press the shutter button which allows you to recompose if required.

I came across this thread a week or so ago and thought it would be worth giving this technique a try. I went out to a custom car and hot rod meet this morning and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to feel comfortable with this different approach.
I have just reviewed my 100+ images and there are hardly any rejects for lack of focus. I have now converted my K10D to use the same focus method.
Thank you, wired. In the last week I have downloaded and watched a few Youtube videos on this subject but the best source of knowledge is right here on our forum.
