I'm just guessing...but that doesn't look like the original engine!

The friend who Fluegel mentioned two posts back was me. I very much appreciate his kindness in sending me a backup K10D.
It arrived yesterday and is in very good condition and had a shutter count less than 4000. It has barely been run in. It has now had a few more shutter actuations and everything on it is working like new.
I consider myself very fortunate to have two fully working K10Ds. Thank you, Fluegel.

When I press the exposure compensation button, the top LCD panel does light up. Always has. Maybe something not quite right on your K10D. That is annoying.

What's with the rear-hinged (suicide!) door? Very unusual.

I have taken many shots of Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia) flowers and I have often been disappointed with the results but today I found one which was a near-perfect fresh bloom. K10D and SMC Pentax-A Macro 50mm f2.8. IMGP5765 by Ray Allen, on Flickr

Check to see if it is actually formatted at 32GB. It would probably work if it was.

Thank you, Richard. I do like the way the K10D renders nice blue skies. I also had the 18-135mm on that day and that is unusual as it is normally welded onto the K-3.
We have also suffered from a lack of blue skies this summer so I made the most of what was available.
The old school bus adds a hint of mystery to your image. And I agree with Paul. That is an unusually large bottlebrush.

Pushing the OK button while in Capture mode shows the ISO value regardless of whether Auto ISO is set or not. I use it often.

I bought mine in 2007 and it now has shutter count over 25000. I have just been using it and it is working as good as the day I got it. It's a trusty workhorse and much loved.
