Um, are you going by someone willing to take your money on an order, or knowing of someone who has physically received it?

for the record, if any reader stumbles across this thread but does see the other(s) on this joke of a lens, it's been pushed to spring of '09.... some say "March". I guess they have to revise the "jewelry of it" some more (if you don't get that weak joke, that's the way it was being translated early on this year). :ugh: how lame!

Well, let me ask this way... Plenty of lenses / prototypes were shown @ shows over the decades from all the manufacturers. As a complete neophyte in this regard let me then pose the question to anyone that often visits these shows ... how common is that type of failing in a show sample?

I believe in addition to what was mentioned they added a tripod mount from the version seen in 2006 / early 2007.

Creampuff, my particular concern is why would a show sample which, being so close to release date, is no doubt a prototype and the same mechanical design they're tooling their factory for, be able to be knocked out'a whack that badly? After all, I'm likely to knock mine around too accidentally. What can they possibly "change" only weeks before it should be getting assembled in the factory that would make it impossible for any lens one of us buys to be plagued by the same aberrations & failings if knocked around? After all this time, the last thing I want to see is this lens suffering from centering defects, back/front focus problems, et al.

Opinion from anyone... Isn't the guy's head on about the same plane as the woman, and shouldn't "he" be as sharp as "her" , or closer than he is?

My bad and apologies if it wasn't ogl. I don't frequent any other photography forum so I must have seen it here. But I just went back a few pages in this section and many many pages on the SLR Lens section but couldn't find it. Maybe it was a post in another established thread instead of a new one but I missed where?

That must be the same prototype ogl was discussing & provided a link to images produced w/it. I hope it was the same physical one actually, as it would worry me more if multiple samples produce the same aberrations and failings in the same way. :ugh:
