The case of the unknown maple.
This tree has grown from the rootstock of a Lion's Head Japanese maple I planted. After two seasons the Lion's Head died, and the nest year the rootstock sent up growth. I've let it go, doing some training and pruning along the way. It had shot up about 8 volunteers, which I have reduced to 3, and I've topped those off at about 3 feet or so, keeping all branches clean except for the top two rounds.
Nice bark color, the leaves will develop red edges in another month or so..
It puts on an awesome color in the fall too.

Frosty and the Reindeer, performing yet again for Christmas. Get their latest hit, Rum Balls, on iTunes. Two shows daily until Christmas Eve.

Rum Balls
2.5 cups 'Nilla Wafers, chopped.
1 cup chopped pecans.
1 cup chopped walnuts.
1 cup confectioner's sugar.
3 (maybe 4) tablespoons baking cocoa.
4 tablespoons raw honey.
1/4 cup (OK, 1/2 cup! better add another half cup of chopped 'Nilla Wafers) of Meyer's Dark rum.
Mix dry ingredients in a suitable sized bowl. Blend well.
Make a depression in the dry mixture, add honey, followed by rum. Use a potato masher (not the kind the Germans used!) to blend dry and liquid ingredients.
When well mixed, let rest, have a hot buttered rum and prepare for the balling.
When the cup of Christmas cheer is empty, lay out wax paper, and begin rolling mixture into bite sized balls. I prefer to roll them all out first, then go back and roll them in crushed pecans or walnuts, crushed 'Nilla wafers, crushed candy cane, powdered sugar or cocoa powder.
Go wild.
Experiment.
Try bacon bits.
Most of all, enjoy.

Been a great addition to my lens case.
I shot the same scene with 4 different lenses today. The Soligor, Industar 61LZ, Helios MC 44K-2, and Jupiter 9. Each has things I really like, showing the strengths and characteristics of them all.

Well Aaron, I finally got a shot set up for the Sawblade Lens.
I like the result, but the wide angle makes it a bit tough to showcase the bokeh effect well.

My name is Racer.
My mother is a beekeeper.
I am a honeyholic, have been since I was very young.
I get raw honey free from mom.
Sometimes I take a spoon and have a dip into the honey jar for a treat.
My sandwich for work lunch is always natural unsalted chunky peanut butter, mixed with raw honey, on whole grain bread.
I put honey on my pancakes, waffles, french toast and English muffins.
When I grill salmon I baste it with a mixture of seasonings and honey.
Oh, and nice shots of the bees at work.
I'm gonna go get some honey now.
