Yes, they seem to be hyper aware of their environment.
So this is the same kind of lizard as in the fence post shot?
Interesting that it has blue under the chin.

Fence lizard? What did they do before man came along and built fences?
I've tried to get shots of little lizards like that before and they are very skittish. Almost impossible to get close enough to to get a decent shot.
Your photo is very nice by the way! Great bokeh. ;)

It is very noble of you to care for her. And yes, snakes can make great pets. But Mrs. Racer will not allow any creature in the house that does not have legs.

We kept those as pets when I was a boy in So-Cal.
Cataracts?
How old do they get?

Nope. I just kept on going.
I mentioned it here somewhere. I saw what looked like a large stick laying on the road. As I got closer I noticed it was a rattlesnake, crossing the highway. He was about 10 to 12 feet long.
As I passed by he pulled his head back and then struck at the tires on my trailer.
That didn't work so well for him.

It has always amazed me how reptiles have adapted so well to their environment. They are flexible, can regulate their body temperature by taking advantage of the sun's rays, and some are able to exist on bugs while others use venom to paralyze their prey before swallowing it whole.

When I was in Shreveport last summer as I walked around my trailer to check the lights something moving caught my eye. It was this snake, slithering away into the bushes. I looked it up, non venomous.
Darn.
It was real camera shy, as I approached it all it wanted to do was move away.
