DA15 in the streets of NYC: Untitled by joshxiv, on Flickr Untitled by joshxiv, on Flickr Untitled by joshxiv, on Flickr Untitled by joshxiv, on Flickr
I have a couple more random street shots (all DA15 + K7) from NYC on Tumblr >>> Random New Yawk
The GR and other fixed lens compacts have since replaced my K-system, but I still have fond memories of the DA15. All these images are from 2 years ago, but I'm still going through them (top image for example, I just edited and posted recently), and they remind me of how much fun it is to shoot with the DA15. Tiny, responsive, just a real joy to use in the streets.
Cheers.

The DA15 taking to the streets:
Because you're usually working within a couple of arms lengths away, it's very rare that your subjects won't notice you pointing your lovely Pentax in their direction. And as you can see, reactions tend to be pretty varied, from laughter, a hand in the face(with a little yell), and some people just don't care. But in the end, we all shared a good laugh. :) Laughter by joshxiv, on Flickr No pictures! by joshxiv, on Flickr
Top: High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Metro Manila
Bottom: Union Square, NYC
Both: Pentax K7.
Cheers, keep shooting.

The DA15 hits the Big Apple: NYC by joshxiv, on Flickr Ain't 4PM Yet by joshxiv, on Flickr Untitled by joshxiv, on Flickr Red Nails by joshxiv, on Flickr Morning Coffee by joshxiv, on Flickr
Incidentally, the plan was for me to drop by B&H and get a DA21, which was supposed to 'replace' my DA15 as my 'street' lens, since the DA15 is a bit too wide for street photography (not selling off the DA15 though, the plan is to have both the 15 + 21 as my street kit). But with the recent price increase, the US price of the DA21 is now the same as local prices in Manila, so I decided to hold off on my purchase and just get the DA21 when I get back to the Philippines. I had the 15/31/77 with me in NYC, and the DA15 was used about 90% of the time.
Cheers.

This thread was definitely a big factor in me getting this lens. Unfortunately, Pentax marketing here is limited to the Q and the different colored Kr/Kx kits. :p
Even though I've started thinking that the DA21 might be better for street shooting, the DA15 is still my go-to-guy, at least until I can get the DA21 and do a comparison on which FL I prefer for street, LOL.

Hidalgo St in Manila: This street is very popular with photographers in the Metro. Gear prices are sometimes 10-25% cheaper than stores in malls, and there is quite a lot of used film gear as well.
And another one from the fish market (cross-posted from the DA Limited thread): |

Trying out the DA15 for some street hipshots:
About 2 months in, and this is still the most fun lens I've ever used. :D

Thanks! It was your thread (this thread!) that had me seriously consider this lens in the first place, I was initially set on just getting the DA21 only, haha.
@v5planet Like that Ender's shot as well. I know a bit about girlfriends needing something to do while I frolic around with new gear as well. Though I've partially solved it by getting her a Pentax as well.

Officially a member of this club!
It took a lot of going back and forth between this and the DA21, and I had a feeling I'd prefer the DA15 more, but the price had me going back to the DA21 again and again. While the DA21 goes for about the same as the US street price here in Metro Manila, the DA15 unfortunately goes for the equivalent of a whopping USD $830 here.
But in the end, I decided that the DA21 would have to wait for later. Much later.
Have only owned this lens for about 24 hours, so haven't really had the chance to shoot with it yet, but here's a quick shot from Manila's (in)famous Divisoria Market from earlier today: |

Just finished going through this entire thread!
You know, more than any expensive marketing gimmick, more than a photozone highly recommended seal or a 98% rating from a photomag review - it's forum threads like this, filled with fantastic images (!) that actually fuel LBA.
