(Sorry georgweb -- I was scrolling too fast and I missed the first part of your post :ugh: Good catch, theunartist, thanks! Good luck with the Tak. I want one of those!)
Yes, it's the AIS. Only issue is that you have to be careful that you don't bump it, because it doesn't lock on. I put it on with the "rabbit ears" on the lens (what is that thing anyway?) at about 2 o'clock on the body, then a slight turn clockwise. Once though when I dropped my bag a short distance with the camera in it, the lens came off in the bag.
I need a lot of practice to get used to focusing wide open then stopping down for exposure -- although in Av mode at least I don't have to use the green button, which is nice (in some cases I can focus well enough when stopped down just a little, but beyond a certain point the AF confirmation stops working)
I also have a Nikkor 35 1.4 AIS (or maybe it's plain AI... not sure :ugh:) that I want to use, but it has a nasty squeek when I focus, and for some reason it's underexposing by at least a stop.

You really wouldn't want to use that stuff on zippers. :( I'm sure you mean lighter fluid. (naphtha)
