Thanks for the comparison. I'm traveling at the moment so just looking at the crops here it appears the Pentax has more contrast. Is magnification at 450 similar to Bigma at 500 or is that an illusion?

The shot you linked looks to be from fairly close.
I would suspect a shot taken with the zoom at similar distance would be similar.
The Da300 TC combo is pleasant to carry and walk around with.
The heavier zoom may not be as enjoyable after a while.
I have the Bigma which has quick AF but don't take it out as much because the 300/TC is more comfortable.
That's the main reason I hesitate on the 150-450, as I believe it is heavier and longer than my Bigma.
The Bigma is great for BIF, better than the 300 as you have found I'm sure.
I'm still waiting for someone to do a direct comparison of da150-450 vs Sigma 50-500OS so I can be swayed.
Would like the WR and TC compatibility which the Bigma lacks.

Im not seeing soft. Look good to me.
The hen and chick shot is impressive for showing a natural moment.
If these are seen as lacking then I should just give up.
(I don't own this lens I just come here for inspiration. )

IIRC you have to push it all the way into the hotshoe. If needed slice the front of the tab that the bump is on so it can be pushed in.
I had to slice mine, I believe Adrian says his just gave when he pushed hard enough.
If you don't do it the whole thing is unstable as only one side of the shoe will grip.
Yup just checked mine, this is how it looks.

Maybe time to accelerate promoting the photo tours business to make the cash?
(If I was ever heading out that way I would pay you for a tour for sure!)

I will take a wild guess and say DFA 150-450 :)

Thanks for providing these. The DA*300+1.4 is a bit disappointing here, seems like I've seen it do better in your hands?
The DFA zoom doesn't seem to play well with the 1.4, but on it's own it is very good from your samples.
The Sig 500 4.5 is excellent as usual.
So do you feel the DFA150-450 is easier to hand hold than the Sig 500 4.5 ?
